How much insurance do you guys pay for your Protege 5?

I pay 6 months with State Farm, $1,530. IMO, i think this is a rip off.

For my celica 2000 gt auto, they charged me $720 for 6 months.

I'm 21, one accident last year, male, Southern CA.

I'm thinking about going with Geico or Progressive

My Protege used to run me $674 every 6 months through Progressive. Even my new rig only runs $880 every six months. Now when I had Geico my rates were almost double what I'm paying now.

Dang, that is a ripoff. I pay Nationwide $2284 a year for 3 cars(see sig), 2 of which have full coverage. Married, 25, one accident 3 years ago.

damn thats too bad for you guys! i pay 1560 per year with full coverage and 500 deductable on my mp5 and my wifes 4runner, and renters insurance

You guys should really shop around for your insurance. There are very few things that you can do in 1 hour that can save yourself $500 -- buying car insurance is one of the few.

I got rid of State Farm years ago. I've generally found that GEICO and Progressive are the best companies for younger drivers (35 and below). If you have a clean record for 3 years when you switch, Progressive will likely save you a ton of money.

Also, Progressive's commercials are true -- you can get a free rate quote with the quotes of a few other companies at their Web site. Sometimes the other quotes are cheaper (I had a friend who found that another company was cheaper through Progressive).

Also, don't forget to check about homeowner's or renter's insurance when you get a quote. Most companies offer a discount on these or on your auto coverage when you get them together.

Funny no new jerseyans here - its so ridiculously expensive here - Geico, Progressive and any other "discount" auto insurers don't even bother offering car insurance to jersey so we're left with the likes of state farm prudential etc. aig and even then you're lucky if you find insurance when your current insurer decides to illegally drop you as a customer. If you have a choice don't live in NJ its not worth the hassle... believe me I've been through car insurance hell here...

Geez, the insurance fees seem to be really a rip-off in the US. Here, in downtown Montreal, for my 2003 Mazdaspeed, I pay 1450$ CAN for 1 year. Got a full-blown protection with a 500$ deductible... I'm 28 and never had an accident. My only insurance claim was for a broken windshield 1-2 years ago.

I'm here...

My car is registered in NJ (home) and DC (school). I pay $219 a month for insurance with USAA. Over $300 a month less than "the champ" pays.

No accidents, one ticket in Las Vegas.

21-M

my fiance and i pay $1,372 every 6 months for my 2002.5 p5 and her 2001 4-door civic ex. we are insured through allstate. of course, our premium will be almost cut in half next month when we get married :).

we have full coverage with a $500 accident deductible, and a $50 comprehensive deductible (ie; vandalism, getting rock chips fixed, windshields replaced, etc.). we also have $300,00 bodily injury insurance (each occurance), $100,000 property damage insurance (each occurance), and $100,000 uninsured motorist insurance (each occurance).

I USED to pay $1500/6mos but my agent, YES MY AGENT, found a loophole, now im paying $995/6mos :D still a ripoff :(

no at fault accidents
2 tickets.

driving record now clean!

i think i got you all beat ...........i pay 1872 every six months and im 25 no accidents ever no points and good credit. i shopped around for 2 weeks with every insurance company i could find and state farm was the lowest. i think this is a rip off but i got no choice

insurance companys are the biggest thieves in corporate america.............consider this im paying 325 for my car and 290 a month for insurance now if you do the math i financed my car for five years now paying insurance for 5 years on the car for those 5 years i will pay a total of 17400( i payed less for the car) which if i dont get into an accident i will never see a dime of back in my pocket. well s*** i been drivin for 9 years and payin insurance the lowest i payed ever is 135 for my 1st gen full coverage the most was 435 for my 300zxtt now if i take a medium of this which is 285 for the last 9 years is 30780. now i dont know about you guys but thats a lot of fukin money that i got nothing for except coverage. if you do get in an accident yeah sure they give you money for your car but they gonna raise your rate cuz you cost them money.........bah enough venting (rant)

IF you can get them to cover you... Wawanesa is good and cheap. I just had to cancel my policy with them due to my move but would go back in a heartbeat. I believe I was paying $1535 a year for two cars with full coverage and $200 deductables.
