How much boost can these engines take?

Just trying to see how much you think you can pump into these engines before things get on the dangerous side. I heard to keep costs down Mazda used the same internals as the normal ES protege. I'am looking to find out how much psi can these engines take on the safer side of boosting? What's the highest anyone here has boosted so far. I'am looking to get atleast 10-12 psi out of them on my wishful side. How strong are our internals? You have to get this car up to Neon Srt speed and 6 psi isn't going to cut it.:)

No "chips" per se. you cold contact Jet performance, but let me advise you that chipped ECU's wont learn any mods you add after its programmed. You would need to resend it out to get reprogrammed. When you send your ECU to get reprogrammed, you have to send a list of your current mods. This way, its all factored in to the reprogramming.

Stick to the 10 PSI tops and have fun. Besides your gonna have to beef up the internals to gove above that anyways, the rods, per mazdaspeed, can only handle 225 whp before bending and breaking.

hope that helps, and I left out my personal views on the "chips of ebay" to spare all my babbling :D

Im thinking there is a "boost cut" used similar to whats used in the 323 GTX's. No one knows for sure yet though. If it is equipped like the GTX then it would be easily bypassed. The hard part is finding out if it does.

Alright heres the deal on MSP boost control and cut.

The only thing that is controlling boost on the MSP is the Wastegate. The ECU can "sense" boost but is not controlling it. When it sees 10psi it shuts down the injectors like a fuel cut.

So the only way to eliminate the 10psi boost cut is to trick the ecu into seeing less boost above 10psi. This is not really that smart because you will only receive fueling for up to 9.9psi.

At 10psi with proper tuning, the car should be more than enough to take on those little pests that try to race you ;)

With me breaking a rod at 6 PSI Thursday night(MP3's have the advanced timing!), I would get stronger rods (like these: http://www.pauter.com/mazda_ford.htm) just to be safe... I know the ECu for the MSP is different, but I'm just saying that these rods from Pauter can supposedly take 30 PSI, and I am ordering some this week. Street King, havn't I seen you on the RX7Club forums?

Patrick, I I were you, I'd get the forged pistons also. Yeah the rods can take that much psi, but the pistons will not. Don't forget what broke on your old motor, it wasn't the rod, your piston broke in half. The guy in Florida also melted a piston with N2O. It sounds to me like both the pistons and the rods are weak.

Naw,

I'm gonna leave the pistons alone right now due to thier expantion properties, and the fact that affordibility is a factor too. I don't plan on running above 8 PSI (probably staying at 6 PSI) after I get my fuel pump, and my car running again for now!:D.

There is not much reason to go over 10 psi with the t25 since it is very inefficient in its application. As far as getting rid of boost cut its very simple get a boost cut defender HKS sells them and they should work. I have been running 210-230 whp at 10 psi for some time with no problems. But thats at the ragged edge. I would not reccomend going higher especially with the stock turbo.

So, in order to upgrade the turbo, you'd have to do internals anyways right?? I mean, if you wanted over 230 whp?

Are you guys doing an Intake for our MAZDASPEEDs? I am sure many of us are interested.

HEY terry, u mean to tell me iwth ya spool 3 kit u were gettin 210-230 on the MP3??...that is at 10psi....not to bad and u have the stock ecu....hmm....so has production picked up so we can get these prices down???....;)
