CX-9 Grand Touring 2011
Hello,

I'm the happy new owner of a 2011 CX-9 Grand Touring with Navigation. According to the Navigation manual, the navigation map comes in a set of two discs, disc A and disc B. Disc B covers the Eastern US and Canada, and Disc A covers the rest of the US (plus Canada again). I bought my CX-9 in Florida and the GPS came loaded with disc B, but disc A is nowhere to be found. The manual is confusing on how many discs should come with the car. How many discs did your CX-9 come with?

I thought that maybe the map was all in one disc, but tried to input and address in Texas or California and it is not possible

My dealer is finding out and I wrote to Mazda (and also to Denso) about 4 days ago but I have received no answer. I find hard to believe that an almost 40K car will come with a GPS missing a big chunk of the USA. What if I want to make a long road trip?

The car shoud have TWO discs in a hard case somewhere! If not in glove box or console, check the rear storage area including on each side of the back area. Our world is truly "imperfect" and for those of us looking for perfection we seem to be out of luck! Good luck on your "search" and be sure give the dealor some bigtime S..T about it if it is indeed not there!

Last month we just got an 2011 w/nav coming from an 08 w/nav. The 08 only had one disk, it was in a normal CD jewel case. The 2011 we just got had the Navi DVD's in a dvd case, that had 2 disc holders inside. I am also in florida, and from looking on the case, noticed the dealer had inserted the incorrect disc in the navi. I changed the disc to the Disc A. Disc B was inside the navi.

The dealer loaded the disc on their inspection/checklist of when they get new vehicles. If they don't know anything about a second disc (get a manager) then you need to talk to mazda corp.

The older CX-9 has one nav disc in a dvd reader in the rear of the vehicle which communicates with the head unit in the front of the vehicle. The older 9's also had a 6 disc cd changer in the navigation head unit. I believe the present 9's have 2 dvd's in the main head unit.

Yes the new 9's have 2 dvd slots, in the front nav unit. Sucky thing is that with the removal of the rear unit, the 6 disc changer is gone. But with BT-Audio, and Aux its not really necessary anymore.

Just a quick update, Mazda replied to me that there are in fact 2 DVDs, and that both should have come with the car. My dealer told me they will get me the missing disk, hopefuly this week or the next. Other than that, what a great car the CX9 is, no regrets so far and not missing my former BMW X3 at all. The only thing I will add is direct access to the phone menu on the Navi by pushing the call button on the steering wheel, instead of having to go through several menu steps, and also a speed dial menu for 10 or so phone numbers. My 2011 Prius has those an it's a much cheaper car. It shouldn't be too hard to do having the hardware already there (and connected)

well that phone screen was added since my 08. I think it showed up in 10, either way, at least its there now :) you can always hit the call button and say the number if you are in a kinda hurry, if the Voice Rec understands you quick enough. :)

it would make sense for it to load that screen though.

2 disks came with mine

BTW, you can create a backup of the disks on doublelayer DVDs. Iso versions are around.

Hi. Never owned a Mazda before. Bought a used 2008 Cx9 GT from a local used car dealer. The car has the Bose system and blue tooth phone connect. No navigation disc was in the car and the car salesman agreed to get one. I drove the car around for a few days and played with the audio system. Under the AMP setting there wasa button that was for the surround sound if equipped with the rear DVD system(it was not) but the button was illuminated and a button for the 5.1 channel enhanced concert sound which has a specific name but I have had too much wine to remember right now. Any way the sound with this button tapped (on screen button) was phenominal and I enjoyed it immensely. So the disk came in and it was for a 2006 car! No way, I told the salesman, I want a 2008 or better disc. So after a few days they provided me with a 2010 disc. I popped it in and the poor navigation began. While flipping through the menues and hitting AMP I see that the "Centerpoint" (that is whaT IT is), is greyed out and not available to me as an option. So my question is: Do I need a disc that recognizes the BOSe system and illuminates the Centerpoint button OR does having the BoSE system eleminate having the need for the Centerpoint function? Got really good sound with it and I miss it.

Centerpoint works only with the CD and the rear DVD entertainment, it doesn't work with the AUX input, AM/FM, SAT or BT-Audio. The reason is that Centerpoint is designed to emulate 5.1 channel surround on a conventional stereo channel, so the option will be grayed-out in all sources except the CD player and the rear entertainment system, if you have one.

Also, be careful with the use of Centerpoint. In my experience it works very well on DVD movies -because of the predominance of vocals- and conventional, 2 channel audio CDs, but it's poor on MP3 CD or other type of compressed audio CDs. Maybe Apple Lossless can give you a decent output with Centerpoint, but it will never be as good as a regular audio CD

I have also found that when using the aux jack with the ipod, it sounds not so great with the ipod set to no EQ / flat. I choose acoustic and this seems to be much better highs and lows, better sounding from the aux jack.
