How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

The quality of the service and warranty manual are pi** poor though. My service manual shows a signature and a date at the 10km mark. Then there are a row for further services, but there are no clues to how when the service should be done, time or km wise, and no info on what type of service should be done.

This info I have on a paper print out of the digital service sheet which I keep in the service manual. It shows a service when I bought it in March, 8088km, oil and filter changed. and the next service due is 20000km or March 2014.
So now its around 4.5 months later, 6000km and the oil is above the X. I will book it in for a service next week and see what they say about the oil level. First I need to print some threads of from the German CX5 forum so they have some reading to do!

As far as key codes go, I have no idea, I could search my book and see. You at least got told about the key in the back on the key fob incase the battery dies on you?

xtrailman,
Hi, I didn't realise there was a later TomTom unit, but just comparing my earlier brochure with the later one, I see what you mean; there are 4 narrow chrome bars between the control buttons - hope mine will have this version!

Also interested in your comment about a text message facility; do I take it this feature just isn't available on UK CX-5s, or is it dependent on the smartphone?
I don't know but I have got the 2013 version, it's identified by the chrome effect highlights between the buttons, earlier versions don't have them.
Also the phone screen shows text message button, but mines greyed out.

Hi, I ordered mine at the end of Feb and collected it at the end of June. It has the new head with silver accents and revised rev counter limit. Texting also works with a Samsung Galaxy S3. Texts are read out and you can send preset replies from the head display.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Y, which I checked for compatibility before taking on the contract, so when I get chance I'll try to get it working, it would be useful as my wife insists on uses text.

Dr Watson
I talked with my dealer, in the UK he says the service record is now all on the computer? And the radio no longer has a code.
I have found the wheel locking key code.

Hi Xtrailman,
Have you set up the Mymazda.co.uk with the pin number that came with car in welcome pack/ or maybe welcome letter?? that should allow you to see your vehicle service record, if not Mazda CS can set it up.

Hi jy1,
I've not had time yet, but the salesman didn't mention me logging on to view, or a pin number, I'll have a look for the letter later thanks.

Also got the nav to update at some time.

Another question, do diesel owners have the engine rev up to near 2K revs on start up, revs for a few seconds like that, don't see the point of reving a cold engine.
Can I stop it some how?

Ours does exactly that... upto 2000 then after about 10 seconds down to C1000, seems much more since ecu update, was going to book into the Hexham dealer but haven't been able to because of dodgy windscreen.

I wouldnt book it in for the starting problem, it's normal, I drive off soon after starting so its not big deal, leaving an engine running to warm up here is forbidden, neighbours would call the police...Swiss people!

The service print out is marked as a digital service report so I guess it's all on computer.

And what's a wheel locking code?

Its just the number for a replacement socket, for the wheel locking nut.

It may be normal but to me its not acceptable.

I grew up being taught never to rev a cold engine, and allow time for the oil to circulate.

I did once have a Primera that did that, rev up to 2K on start up, but that was some years ago.
Nobody has given a reason why it should rev at start up, to me its not good for the engine, a waste of fuel, and it isn't quite!

Re High Revs on Start-up. I was told the reason when I first tried out the diesel & that it was normal. To be honest I can't remember, and not bothered by it.

Doesn't happen every time when cold though, which is perhaps a bit odd.

My lives services don't appear to work, that should give you a laugh?

I've activated the service, and get the accept screen on during start up, I accept but am unable to see a traffic bar, speed cameras, or google the weather.

when I try the latter all that happens is I get the "circle", and the message unable to access service.
I got a decent signal on my mobile 3 bars, so assume the cars sim should be capable of receiving?

Or is it just operator error?

I would say its not an unusual noise, it's just an engine idling at 1800rpm for a few secs. What does bother me is the stink it creates! If I drive out my garage then walk back in, the smell nearly makes puke.

Oh Dear!!

To check it out....

Go to Settings, then Status, go to the right into Version.

Then hit the black icon bottom left and you should get a screen showing a status connectivity of the sim (incremental bar-chart) also there should be the unique sim number on the same screen. If greyed out may just mean you haven't fully registered which you can set up on screen with your e-mail address and password, as long as you have registered with them of course.

If you have done everything your end, welcome to the club.

Might be worth this being migrated into the appropriate thread? But that is a job for a moderator.

All the best, and disappointed that Worksop's famous lad Lee Westwood didn't make it.

Tried it again today.

Lives services are now working!

Is this the pattern, hope not.

I'm dreading doing a software update, from reading other posts on the subject.

Thanks Alex for posting the directions, I'll have a play.

Anyone know if its possible to have my mobile signal and battery status on the NAV screen, its on the phone screen at present, on my xtrail I had both the phone info and day time on the nav screen.

Its not the pattern, mine has been good from day one, I had a bit of trouble getting speed cameras to show but but that's OK now, I have done software updates no probs
it saved me 20 mins Saturday on a 100 mile trip. I'm not gloating I really hope it all works out for you and Alex.
