I'm also averaging 42mpg over the 2500k miles on the clock.
The blue symbol in the top left is a bluetooth connection notification to a mobile - when connected would probably allow you to play your mobile's stored music via the CX5 headunit - if its compatible!
The 'Gracenote' update is referring to the voice recognition software for viewing/selecting your music (see http://www.gracenote.com/auto/)

I've not seen any significant understeer, and regularly test it like my old coupe. Some slight body roll maybe, but probably to be expected.
Its not the AWD kicking in is it?
I'd say, try taking the Kia Sportage for a test drive. The CX will feel planted after that experience.

Interesting to see the various economy readings achieved both with 150 & 175bhp engines, auto and manual and of course AWD.

I have 3700 miles on the clock now and appear to be averaging 48mpg, (150, 2WD manual) which given that What Car states a "True MPG" figure for the same engine in their tests of 47.6 is probably pretty much in line with expectations. I have seen highs of 55mpg if driving in a relaxed manner, though at the appropriate speed limits, on relatively traffic free A and B roads.

Guess my biggest disappointment is that contrary to EVERY other car I have had the economy DECREASES on a long run on the motorway where at indicated speeds slightly above the national limit (so probably close to the limit in actual terms and allowing for speedo over reading) I struggle to get much better than 42mpg which is what my previous 3.0D 240hp Jaguar XF could achieve. Will be interesting to see if it improves much with additional mileage

.....and then when the "winter" diesel starts arriving in the filling stations in a month or two we will see a further drop off in economy for a while. Not much one can do about that.

Ta, that's it gracenote.. Have you been able to download any updates from their website?

I don't believe it's the AWD kicking in, as that should be seamless and I doubt it should feel as those the brakes are being applied / throttle is being closed.

Yeah that sounds like the TRC taking over. If you're feeling brave, you could try disabling it and trying the same enthusiastic maneuvers. (drive2)

I've not used voice recognition in anger. Currently ripping the rest of my old cd's into mp3 so I can have everything in-car. The missus n me have very different musical tastes when it comes to driving. (notcool)

I have the same model as you and that's in line with what I'm getting. Yes the cx-5 takes a bigger mpg hit at high speeds compared to more aerodynamic cars. MY CX-5 is more economical than my old KIA Carens up to 70 but faster than that and the kia was more economical. The cx-5 did once get over 67 mpg overall on a 100 mile round trip. There's a picture of it on this forum somewhere. It wasn't the most exciting of drives getting that figure so I don't intend to repeat it. I suppose if they put 50 mpg average speed cameras along the whole stretch of m4 between swansea and cardiff I would get around 70 mpg.

Driving economically can be much more tiring (and boring).

That's the bit I struggle with......completely understand the logic but I ran a Volvo XC90 for 3 years a while back and even that gave better motorway mileage than on shorter runs so somewhat bamboozled why economy should be down 10-15% in such circumstances.

As I said, otherwise pretty happy with the economy

If we had the drag co-efficient values of the two that could shed some light in it.

I'm finding my city driving is about the same as my motorway driving, 45-50 mpg. It's the first car I've had where that has happened. The istop must have something to do with that.

Just got my space saver spare wheel today. The dealership workshop fitted it under the floor. When i asked what pressure the space saver should be they said 60psi, surely that cant be right!! Anybody used the space saver on the car, if so what pressure did you use?

Smaller thin get you home tyre taking a heavy load. Has to be a higher psi.

The space saver was 315 including all the fittings for fitting under floor and they also fitted it in (about 10 minutes) included. I have also kept all the standard mouldings under the floor so that i can put it back when i sell it and sell the space saver on e bay.

I ordered mine with the car but due to mix up at my local, it was not fitted for delivery. I fitted it myself in 5 mins, it's very easy. Tyre pressure is stated on the tyre.

Correction to my previous post of mileage and MPG. I've now reached just over 300 miles and average mpg is 44.7. MPG takes a massive hit above 65 / 70 mph as expected.

Also, from discussions with Mazda HQ, the Tom Tom Live issue should be resolved by a new software release that should be with dealers within 4 weeks. They were also looking into the USB not starting from where it stopped and lack of detail with sat nav when zooming out.

My car is going back to the dealer for a rattling drivers door (when window is partially opened) and also to get the graceland, sorry, gracenote software update.

Mazda UK called yesterday to advise that a TomTom fix is being rolled out soon, very vague about any other improvements that may be made at the same time though and once again said that USB audio should not resume after a restart. I explained that an option for this would require limited coding and should therefore been added pronto. I reallt cant get over how sluggish the TomTom is to respond to touch commands too (much slower than my 4 year old tomtom go) so voiced my concerns regarding that.

This is what I wrote in another thread on this problem...

There are currently two faults with the system as follows:

1. LIVE services subscription is registered with TomTom, but periodically the customer unit details are denied access to the Vodafone network when the car sends a data request
2. LIVE services either will not connect or the connection will drop out when in weaker signal area despite having a signal on a mobile phone or other devise


Scenario 1
This issue covers the majority of customers and is resolved by a software update being made available on the customer’s TomTom Home website shortly. We are currently in a final testing phase this week in the UK and Europe. If successful, the software upgrade will go through an approval process to become available for download; a process will be rolled out to all dealers once agreed with TomTom and the factory.

Scenario 2
Research shows that this only occurs in a small number of cases in weaker signal areas. However, compounded with the above Scenario 1 makes the situation worse, as when a signal is registered, it gets denied access. Some small changes have been made within the software update for connectivity cycles and an addition of a force reconnect screen if the customer has been in a weak signal area for a prolonged time before continuing their journey.

It is likely that the approval process for the release of the software could take up to 6-7 weeks for all parties to sign it off. However we will be pushing for a much sooner timescale than this is possible. The process we believe will then be a simple one for download onto the customers car.'
