How many are running J&S safeguard?

I run one and I am very glad I do. I like the safety margin it adds at 17PSI :)
Ok, well safer margin. :D

Holy Sheeeeet! Thats a long time... I hope mine doesn't take that long
I bought mine there as well and it took a long time to receive it, but I would not trade it for anything.
I know it has allowed me to run some crazy boost levels (like the few 20PSI runs) and not break my motor. There are 2 others around here with the same J&S/MPI combo and I know Apoc has ran up to 19PSI on an upgraded turbo with his setup.

yes but remember the best function of the J&S is to pull timing based on knock, which is why its such a good unit because it does it on the fly, so that way if your static map is off for some reason this will still work

I am still going to use my J&S with the AEM
It is dynamic and per cylinder not a batch pull like some.
I am sure you know this and yes, I love my J&S! (nana)(boobs2)(nana)

I love mine but I'm only at 12psi on my IHI VF22. From NSN took around 3 weeks. Soon to be at 18 on a built motor!!

i was under the impression it was per 2 cyinders becuase of our igntion system.

Hmm.. well then I am mis-informed. I was under the impression it was per cylinder according to John at J&S.
Oh well either way it is nice to have it on board to reign in the timing when needed and you dont even have to think about it the J&S does it for you.

Does anyone recommend a afc + injector setup @ 12-13 psi + j & s ?

I know the MPI is better but to what extent?

It does have individual cylinder knock retard although you are only tapping 2 coil wires.

i talked with turfburn and you are right. i thought i had read otherwise.

The MPI gives you a lot of control but it takes time to learn how to use it (generally takes two people one to drive and one who knows how to tune.)
I like the interface, the software, and the datalogging. Apoc tunes mine for me :)
I will be adding the two extra injectors to mine as this setup delivers plenty of fuel and does not seem to affect gas milage; provided you don't hammer it.
I don't know about the other fuel controllers. :(
There a few nice solutions running around. The MPI is A REAL BEAR to install.
Lot of soldering, cussing, resoldering, and some prayer. It is very easy to kill your coils during an install so you MUST have someone put their hands on the coils while you wire it in and make sure you don't have something wired wrong. It is not for the faint of heart.

thanks for the responce. I would have someone install it for me but id have to learn how to tune it ;/

Well as far as tuning goes Apocman might be able to give you a few maps to start but the Unichip is nice as well (allthough more pricey) but you can't tune it yourself.
He pretty much learned from asking the right people on the forum and off, and then just tuned several cars over and over again. Mine kicked ass and when it was on it was great. I never truly got to tune it all the way because I made enough power at high boost to kill this 309 lbs-ft clutch.
No mater what you run the J&S can save your ass and really once you set your timing map it takes care of the rest in fact you don't have to mess with the timing very much at all with it in there. It is smarter than any static map.
Good luck.

Just got mine installed and had a question.

When the TPS wire is hooked up is it going to affect my AFC?

They'll both be tapped on the o2 wire from the ECU.

I'm confused.

I didn't hook up the tps wire since my haltech already pulls me out of closed loop over 30% throttle. I think most leave that wire alone.

This was my response back from Steve at NSN.

Re: J&S Supersafeguard (Install time Question TPS wire?)
<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->You don't actually need to wire in the TPS wire for the J&S... I believe it is only used for the "tricking" of the stock ECU if you want to go that route... check my website (www.nsnmotorsports.com) and go into the documents section as we have a J&S install writeup in there as well. Later! Steve

Well without it I'm running lean at partial throttle.

I don't have anything but the J&S and the DSM AFC as far as EMS goes though. My mechanic said the AFC cannot be programmed for partial throttle.
