IF SOMEONE COULD MOVE THIS TO THE MAIN "PROTEGE 5 (PROTEGE5.COM) SECTION? :)

Describe the purchase of your Protege5 and why you think you got a killer deal on your Protege5! (Preferably buying the car stock - so if you bought a P5 with a bunch of mods, no extra percieved value should be added)

I'll start:

2002 Midnight Blue Mazda Protege
1 owner / dealership maintained (His uncle owned Mazda Dealer)
5spd
no rust, awesome body
68,000 miles
Summer wheels/winter wheels
He was asking: $5,000 USD

Got it for:
$3,500 USD
on Jan16/09

I'm pretty happy with my deal! (wiggle)

Purchased 2003.5 model with 5-speed, sunroof/6-disk package, bumper protector, and cargo net, brand-new from dealer on Dec. 26 of 2003 for $14,200. MSRP was just under $20,000.

The car still rocks!

Purchased my 03 mp5 in august 06

39k on it, for $11000

very clean, but yeah, not so much of a good deal

but they look so much better than a 3, and they are very hard to find right now. (i still owe 3K on it, so you got a great deal!)

want to trade? i have almost 90k on mine now.

I kind of didn't take into account that some may have bought their cars years earlier when they were still brand new. Doh! :(

Still it'd be nice to hear from you guys..

Bought mine January 10th, 2009.

2003 Black w/ Flawless Body and Interior
1 owner local car
Dealer Maintained
Clean Carfax

got my red wagon in 2005, i believe.

base model + mini disc player, dvd player, 2 screens, and about 55k miles IIRC. paid right at 10k out the door.

got my white wagon two years ago (almost exactly), completely base model and stock with 64k miles. has all of the service records with the stealership i bought from and was 1 owner with a clean carfax. i paid $8k out the door.

first one kind of got me screwed, but i paid it off quick. this one was a pretty good deal and it came with tons of golf accessories (hatch was full of golf tees before they cleaned it up)

2002 Protege5 Manual

60,000 Miles

3500.00 USD Paid for by the Company

came with 79K, was asking for 11K i said hell no, and got it for 7K

came with broken headlight, missing clear side marker, busted amber marker, and broken tabs on hatch trim thingy on inside, and shity oil.
had em do repairs etc.. on all that and got it for 7800 out the door, with tax, registration etc...

oh yea this was in 07 i think.

2003.5 Vivid Yellow. Sport Auto gearbox. I believe it has every option but leather. 14 miles on it when I got it. Stickered for ~$21k, paid $14,700. 0% financing. Free oil changes for life from dealer. That was 6 years ago... and yes, I get my oil changed every 3k or 3 months. My last oil change I clocked 157 miles on it in 3 months. Not unusual in winter.

I bought mine about a year ago. 02 Red 5sp 79000 miles $5300 plus tax. The dealership wanted to charge me a dealer prep fee ($200-$500) on a used car after I had already picked it up from them 180 miles away. I told them it wasn't what the salesman and I agreed on and also for a car that was prepped why was the valve cover gasket leaking oil, the motor dirty and the Ebay intake pipe wasn't even on the throttle body it was loose. He of coarse dropped it. I know have 123000 miles and still going.

Got my 2002 auto P5 last in oct 2008, for the equivalent of $7000 US all in all. Not really a deal but I look at the good part: almost rust-free body and.. that's all :)

Wow, I should have waited to get mine.

Bought my 02' new, it's yellow, 5spd, with 4 miles on the OD for $14k and still love it.
I'm just over 80k miles on it now.

my dad worked for a company owned by Ford at the time, so as his son i got employee pricing through what they call the "A-plan." i financed it new at 4% interest for $16k after tt&l. then it flooded in a horrible...flooding accident. i had to buy another P5 with less options (cuz they arent very popular in beaumont) and i think i financed it for around $15,500 after all the fees and interest were applied.

I got my 2002 1 year ago for 6200.00 . It had the timing belt, water pump , & 4 new Toyo Proxes put on just before I bought it. I thought it was a good deal!
