the title says it all. I have been told its 100k but that seems kinda bs.

Of course it will depend what kind of driving you are doing. I've done probably about 1 gallon worth of distance, and filled up about 13.5 gallons. So technically there is still another gallon to go, but I wouldn't rely on it.

In my experience, you are safe as long as the needle goes below the 0 mark on the gauge, but no gap. When the needle is lined up with the 0 mark, you have a good 20 miles or so more.

i went about 30 miles more when the light lit up, 60 mph on highway :( no exits that what scary

As much as I tried not to, I did the same thing one time. No exits for a long way and the needle dropped way under the E mark. It might not have been quite 30 miles but it was close.

my light turns on about 25-30 and i usualy fill up around 5 miles left. I never let it go down to zero. My guess is 30-35 TOPS when the light comes on. ud be lucky if u get more

My light comes on when the cars reads 20 miles remaining. I have driven that plus an additional 40 or so miles after it read 0 on the highway.

I figure there is about 2-2.5 gallons left. I have been getting about 24 mpg and I drove 45 miles after the light and the tank took 14 gallons when I filled up. I say 2 gallons to play it safe.

Our cars come with a display for this doesn't it?? I used it today. Just don't know how accurate it is.

just do the math.

miles traveled = miles per gallon * gallons.

so use your trip odometer and next time you fill up figure out your mpg.

i know for a fact the speed protege can go 50-60 miles. so i would doubt mazda would have the 3 go less than that.

you shouldn't run less than a 1/4 tank. your fuel pump uses the gas to dissipate heat.

There is a legal reserve that would be 35 miles worth of gas conservatively.... I have stretched my CX7 to 40 and tried in the speed and ran out, which isnt good. You never want to run out of gas, you will pull any junk in your tank into the pump.

"you shouldn't run less than a 1/4 tank. your fuel pump uses the gas to dissipate heat."

^^^
really?
... i only fill up to a half a tank then fill when on E...

it's nice only spending $20 on gas every two weeks! :)

Fill up to 3/4 and refill at 1/4.. It'll save you $100 for a new fuel pump.
( I'm sure you could spare an extra 20 lbs.)

oh, well why does it mess up the fuel pump?

what do ya mean by dissipating the heat?

WTF!!! our car come with a display? WHERE? i swear i didn't notice it and i have the car for 2 months now lol
