hey guys, 95 protege lx just looking to lower my car a few inches....and i saw some springs on ebay that'll do the trick....my question is: how hard is it to install springs? any special tools necessary? anything that i should look out for?

and while im down under the car, are there some parts that should inspect?

thanx (yippy)

id suggest gettin a haynes manual and spring compressor. that will make your job not only easier but safer. also, do you have any previous mechanical ability? do you have access to a lift? or impact tools? those all make it infinitely easier to do

yup....ive got the manual...i read over the section (RTM) ive got an impact drill thingy (gun) and i can get the compressors on loan from checkers auto. And being under the car isnt new to me...but i havent done any springs before.... (eekdance)

it took me 45 minutes to do my fronts with an impact gun and a mounted spring compressor with jack stands, and 3 hours to do my backs...i stripped a nut :p but id say if you have any mechanical skill, 3 hrs tops. the rears, dont use an impact gun, use a breaker bar and a regular socket, or youll strip it, and its impossible to get in there to get that b**** out.

thanx for the tips....now if i could only get about 3 hours of free time (hmm)

lol, i just set aside an entire saturday...id suggest you do the same, you never know whats gonna break that shouldnt ;)
