How Do You Keep The Moonroof Area Clean

I drive with the moonroof on tilt, and leave the shade close. The thing that bothers me is that when I look thru the moonroof you can see all the dust it's collected. Anyone know a good way of keeping this area clean and cleaning the moonroof area?

well, i'm not really sure what you're talking about, but is it a spot you could get to at least close enough so you could blow it out.. use an air compressor if you have one, or use a can of that computer air.. at least you should be able to blow the dust off..??

Ok, you know the part that you pull manual with your hand? Well on the top there's dirt I can't reach, so I'll try with the air compressor.

Mine's filthy too. Here's how to clean it:

-Find an anorexic Ethiopian with a chamois, or
-use a really long feather duster.

I still haven't got mine completely cleaned , but at least it looks better than it did. Good luck!

Air compresser + feather duster?

yea what you do is put it on tilt and use a feather duster, just shove it in there and move it around, then use a fan or a drive to blow it all out

Dirt

I noticed the ssame dirt yesterday. I was hoping there was a way to release the bump stops. Sounds like it time to buy a feather duster.

you could just go ghetto...

get a small rag, get it damp, shove it in there and move it around with a stick, then yank it back out...hahaha

the way i cleaned mine was to close the moonroof all the way and slide the shade all the way open (in the roof) and look at where the glass mounts there are two screws on each side, i took them out. Just look where the glass is on the outside before removal to reinstall. took me maybe 5 minutes tops. the duster may be a better idea though.

on the top side of the moonroof cover (not the glass but the thing you move manually) does yours have fading marks? mine seems to be getting some sun fading marks and it looks kinda ugly... like i spilled some drink onto it...

do you think the dealer would replace it under warranty?

If you are talking about the space under the wind guard on the roof, you just got to remove it to get in there really good. Sucks I know and a pain in the ass, but I try to clean it whenever I was the car. I bet a pressure washer would work really well, but not many have that just sitting around.
