How do you guys do your own ND oil changes?

2023 CX-5 2.5T ... 2024 MX-5 RF GT
The car is so light that it pushes my ramps across the concrete. It can't make it all the way up on them like the CX-5 does :ROFLMAO:

It's looking like jack the car up from the front, put stands to the sides, then pull the jack out and do the oil change.

Nice looking ride! Those ramps are junk as there's no rough surface for the tires to grip on, hence the car can't pull itself up the ramps.

These ramps are indestructible and have lasted me 20 years. But yeah, some more grip on the bottom would help. It's not needed on top. The tires are not slipping.

I would think that as the tires just just start to mount the ramps (front wheel drive) they'd want to pull the ramps under them as they go up, not push them away. Rear wheel drive vehicles probably would make the ramps slide forward. They seem rather short as well which creates a steep ramp. Mine are 34" long and quite gradual in grade. I actually read that putting a wet cloth between the ramp and floor prevents sliding but I don't know about that. You could put "peel and stick" strips of closed 1/2 inch sealing foam strips on the bottom edges. "Indestructible means nothing if their not functional and safe so I maintain that for the purpose their intended their junk for your purpose. It appears that most manufacturers consider modern day cars to be all FWD and design around that.

It is indeed and that's why it pushes the ramps around. The only foreseeable solution is to put a length of 2x6 between the front of the ramps and the wall of the garage directly in front of them.
Not the safest but it'll do the job.

I had that thought.

I've been using them for a very long time, including with my RWD Trans Am, with no issues. That car weighed ~3400 lbs. But I've never tried driving a 2500 lb car onto them. This is the first time I've ever had this problem.

It turns out my low profile jack has no problem getting under the car without the ramps. The ramps just make it a little easier to get my head under there to see what I'm doing and mate up the jack pad with the cross member.

I put the rear up on stands as well to get the car level. I decided this was the best way to do the oil change because the drain plug is on the side of the middle of the pan. If the front of the car is raised, oil will run to the back of the pan and not be drained. The CX-5 does not have this problem because the drain is on the back of the pan.
