how do I take out the radio to install a new one on a P5?

there should be to little covers on each side of the deck, pull those off and stick 2 nails etc. into the holes that are ther

push the nails towards the steering wheel if your on the left side of the deck, then pull out that side of the deck, for the other side stick a nail into the larger hole and push it towards the passenger door, pull that side out and your goood to go, i did mine a week ago without any trouble, and i know im dumb for using nails but im from saskatchewan lol.

ps. there shoulde be 3 holes for this process on each side, dont try and use the holes that the points on the back of the cover stick into.

oh really Chuyler? lol. well, you know of a place with pics/diagrams or is it really not difficult?

Go to Wal-Mart, buy the Ford/Mazda removal tools, looks like an U shape. Take off covers, insert in holes, pull. I think there is a How-To in the How-To forum.

If you used the search feature with something like "remove stock stereo" you would find in the first page of results a thread with this image:

You would also find people bitching about how sticky it is. That is why you need the ford radio removal tools shown in the photo and often times you have to remove the center tape-deck panel and pull with that too...or reach around through the glove box and push from behind.

I just did it with the Ford removal tools and even at that it was a ***** of a job... the upper part of the lock bracket was very stubborn and would not budge... I actually went from behind the glove box as well as removed the panel under the steering wheel to reach the radio from the driver's side. It'll be a piece of cake next time as I adjusted the bracket properly now !
