How do I remove the Front power plug pannel?

:
CX-5
I want to install a gauge in the front storage area in front of the shift lever where the 12 volt outlet is. I need to know how to remove that panel with the 12 volt accessory jack so I can drill it and get a wire through there. Has any one done this? can you help?

Thanks

If I remember correctly, you will have to take apart the whole console, starting from the armrest.
I will have to open it up myself again, to connect the USB adapter cable to my Kenwood nav unit.
Somewhere on this forum, there is a how to do it with pictures, but I need to find it.

Thanks, I think. To be clear, I want to remove something between the the shift lever and the front of the car, and under the dash. I don't need to get to the head unit or to the arm rest. Just the area where the front 12 volt accessory outlet is. Not the one in the center arm rest.

From the pix it looks like I can pry the cover off around the shift lever and then the panel I want? Perhaps I can just pry up the panel I need to??

I understand what you want, but if I remember well, you will have to take it apart this way.
You can try removing the shifter cover and see, if that is enough.

I properly wired the Scangauge today. (It is mounted in the front console right below the heated seat switches.
Exploring the web showed that the little rubber tray in the front console is removed by lifting it up at the front with the tape wrapped screwdriver. recommended for all trim work. (I used the screwdriver blade of a Swiss Army Knife as it is polished and has no sharp edges.) Once the tray is removed there are two rectangular holes in the back of the panel that holds the accessory power outlet. (See pix below from TreyP) I made one of the holes a little taller and slid the wire for the scangauge through it and then reinstalled the tray. The panel next to the gas pedal also needed to be removed to fish the wire. It all took less then 30 min.

Can you post a pic of your final installation? I've been debating something similar.

Here it is. This is the Scangauge E (The smallest one.) It only shows two functions at a time. That is what I was looking for. Neither the driver or passenger can see the cord from a seated position.
I ran Velcro the full width of the top surface of the console opening so I can move the gauge around and see what I like best. This spring when it is warm out, I will replace the Velveo with one just the right length to make it look a bit neater.

Nicely done. Thx.
