Now I guess the Question is...at what number does number one start at...Since most of you have 16xx+ numers..I dont see it as a coincidence that you guys all just happen to have cars from just that range of numbers....I hink you might not be getting at what you think you are.

Guys I'm just guessing here, BUT READ THE POSTS.
After the 7 in you vin which is the model year the next 4 numbers is what I'm talking about.From the previous mazda speeds this would not apply, buit maybe it is the production number and maybe it's not.

Stupid Question: Is it 5K MADE or 5K imported to US

I should know this by now I know I know I know....
but I was under the impression that only 5K would be IMPORTED to the US and not that only 5K would be MADE... I always assumed total production worldwide would be higher but never had a feel for what the total would be (or that it was even a known quantity)

So which one is it?

I'd imagine mazda doesn't have a method for tracking in what order vin numbers were assigned, and they usually aren't consecutive. They just have a batch of vin numbers for production and they get assigned sort of at random. There would be no benefit to mazda to assure they got assigned in order.
