2012 Mazda CX-9 GT
Hi,

I just bought a 2012 CX-9 GT and the homelink doesn't work with my Chamberlain HD920EV garage door openner. Yes, I followed the manual exactly as it states but it doesn't get past the step where you press both remote buttons. Homelinks LED supposed to start flashing rapidly but it doesn't. I tried it with my older chamberlain model and it worked. Anybody else run into this issue with 2012 models?

I found this thread through google: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-chamberlain-liftmaster-security-2-0-a-3.html

You would think 2012 models wouldn't need this lame work around.

I'm going to the dealership tonight to make them replace it. I will try programming the 2013 show floor model to see if it works. I'll let you guys now. But if anyone has experienced this with a 2012 model please share.

Hi, does your garage door opener have rolling codes? If so, you first start by copying the garage door opener remote control (the thing with the buttons that came with your garage door opener) signal to your mirror. After that, you have to press your listening button on your opener motor apparatus on the ceiling of your garage, then run back to the car and sync your mirror to the motor unit.

I had no problems linking my homelink mirror to my Genie screw-type garage door opener with rolling codes.

Fyi, to open/close the garage door, if you simply tap the corresponding homelink button, nothing will happen.
You have to hold the homelink button in for longer than just a "tap" for it to send a signal.

No rolling codes. Called Homelink and they told me the homelink unit is outdated until 2014. Mazda chose not to update their homelinks until 2014.

They have resolved this issue with a "Repeater". Homelink transmits to the repeater, and the repeater transmits to your garage door. Silly work around eh? You pay for shipping and they bill Mazda for the rest.

I believe your information may be incorrect, depending on what mirror you have.
I have the 000 8C Z02 mirror which is the auto dimming, homelink, compass mirror.

The mirror is made by a company called Gentex. All the factory homelink/compass/auto dimming mirrors are made by Gentex, at least through 2012 models, not sure about 2013.

I replaced my Chamberlain garage door opener about 4 years ago with a new Genie opener. Pain in the butt to replace the sucker...thats another story. But my Genie has rolling codes and requires an additional step to program the homelink mirror.

You first match the mirror button to your garage door remote control fob.
Then after that, you have to press your learning button on your motor assembly in your garage, and then quickly get back in the car and match the button.
The instructions are included with the insallation kit, or if your car included this mirror new, then the instructions should be in your glove box.

If you cannot find the instructions, I can send you a link.

No rolling codes is incorrect because I open my garage door with my homelink mirror all the times, and my garage door has rolling codes.

helbigtw is correct.
Gentex made the mirrors.
The same mirrors can be found on many brands of automobiles.
These are "accessories", which are installed at ports of entry, not in factories.

This sounds backwards to me. If you don't have rolling codes, then you have a pretty old model of opener. So--if the HomeLink is outdated, wouldn't that mean that it can't communicate with the newest openers?

I think what yang is saying, is that this new Chamberlain with security 2.0 is the newest technology. The oldest technology is a single rf signal with the older garage door openers. Then they changed them to "rolling codes." Now, apparently this Chamberlain security plus 2.0 is not rolling codes, but something else more high tech that requires a repeater. Very strange though. I've never heard of a garage door opener with the rolling code feature being able to be defeated electronically by a hacker...unless they were like boy genius or something. Seems a little overboard for Chamberlain if you ask me.

I see. Found this thread too:

Same issue with Chamberlain WD962KEVC. I called Chamberlain support and they told me the 2011 CX-9 is eligible for a free repeater/bridge, and all I have to pay is $8 shipping. Should be getting it in a couple of weeks.
