So this weekend me and 7 of my closest friends took a trip to the Oregon Coast, Lincoln City to be exact for my friends bachelor party. Well im just astonished at the fact that the ol Pro5 got 31 miles per gallon with a carload of dudes and the a/c pumping out the whole way. its about a 5 hour drive roughly 360 miles. I freakin love it! (cabpatch) (band2)

damn! i'd be luck to pull 22-23mpg with a trip like that! Even when it's just me, the best I've ever pulled was 29mpg. what gives?!?

I drive 90 miles a day to work, 40% City( stop n go ) and 60% Freeway and I average 31 mpg.
I've got as high as 36mpg ( all freeway @ 75mph ) at one time. 22-23 mpg seems pretty low for a P5. Even my Mustang GT will do 22-23mpg regularly.

The P5 on long trips, going about 60-65 mph will get about 30 mpg from my experience. The Tach only reads like 2700rpm at this speed and saves crazy gas (assuming no major up-hills)

Not bad. I never can get more than 29mpg on trips, car is loaded too much and the mountains and the high speed limits kill my milage. I usually average 31 for my commute.

Miata92, I agree. I get really annoyed that my 5 gets the same milage as my old turbocharged stang, but has way less power. And I could beat on the stang and still get the 28 mpg! My NA stang would get 30-35mpg and that's a friggin 1974 pinto motor that's .3L larger!

Yea if i go to Seattle area i have to cross the Cascade Mountains and that usually kills my mpg. but goin towards portland its pretty much flat, cruising along the Columiba river. (rockon)

I got 33 mpg once going slow on the freeway. A few days ago I got 28 mpg driving it hard in the mountains and going 80 on the freeway which really surprised me since I usually get 24-25 around town. I'll try a frugal freeway trip some time again to see what I can squeeze out of it.

I can get 30 consistantly with cruise control, a/c on and driving under 70. Its not fun, but gas these days is a kiiller.

all you people who are claiming over 30mpg consistently, how closely are you actually monitoring it?

holly cow... even not pushing it a lot the best i've gotten this summer was 26mpg maybe something is wrong? :(

I don't think 26mpg is bad, at least not for me.
I'm thinking climate and gas blends have a lot to do with how people do on fuel economy. I've been keeping track since I got my P5 (just under a year), and in that year I've been averaging 26MPG across every tank, I keep track religiously

My mileage goes to absolute s*** in the winter (as low as 22 or 23mpg) and gets better when the weather warms up and the gas is the summer blend, I can get up near 28mpg

I know if I fill up in an area that has emissions checks/laws, there are more cleaners in the gas, and my mileage drops through the floor.

With intake, header and exhaust I still average 30 MPG on any freeway cruise with 31 obtainable with CC at 70 MPH
I love my car.

Sounds right!!

I always check mileage with every fill-up and average 29-30+ every time.....stock with K&N drop in and racing beat cat-back.....Ac on or off
