Hole in the engine block towards the rear bottom

So guys I need your help. I own a 2004 Mazda 3 2.0 L. I recently put in a vibrant header, exhaust and a cold air intake. its been one for over a month. so this last Thursday I come back from work at 9:30 pm rev the engine up a lil bit and shut it off. Friday Morning I try to turn it on car wont turn over gauges go up and down and thats about it. After running a battery check and rulin it out i decided to tow it away to my tuner shop. Tech calls me up says he has never seen anything like it. A hole in the rear bottom but heres the catch , there is no oil in my intake manifold, inside if the engine is all clean no oil sills or any other kind of fluid mixed. So wot happened that my engine just made a hole overnight . I tuck my finger through the hole and felt something moving . any input on this matter is appreciated. Thanks

sounds like you threw a rod... but i have no idea how with those mods its not like you are making a ton of power... did you have detonation problems? were there any other issues with the car?

Nope.. the check engine light would come on every now and then because of the new O2 sensors. The auto zone guy did mention that one of my cylinders was knocking because of the O2 sensor like it was misfiring.

I'm with tsunami on this one. You were getting some pretty massive detonation that bent a rod. If you knew you were getting knock in multiple cylinders, that would have been the time to get it over to the tuner. Not after it won't start.

Sounds like your AFR's were way out of wack from that faulty O2 sensor.

My tech would give me an appointment on thursday the following week since he was so busy . Now what I am trying to get at it is it his fault for not fixing the O2 sensor coz i have een tellin him forever that the check engine light comes and goes and he wud be like give it some time since the mods are new to the car , the car is still adapting to it. Also the cylinder would misfire and not knock sorry for that information.

If you wanted to drag it out in the court system, they may find your mechanic partially liable. Essentially, they would find him partially liable because he owed you a duty of care to fully investigate the problems you were relying on him fixing. When he didn't and took the easy way out by just bullshitting you, he wasn't fulfilling his obligations to you.

If you really want to get a lawyer and go after him, more power to you. You'll probably lose money on the deal and will still be out a car for the next year or so. If you have insurance, that would probably be the route that I would go. Hope you have a good insurance agent.

thats wrong information. autozone people are idiots. what code were you setting?
