HKS Super Megaflow Air intake installed

Look where your filter sits. I'ts right behind the cooling fan for the radiator. Sucking hot air right out and directly into your filter. The stock setup is enclosed and only pulls cold air from the front "Hence cold-air box". You might still have that little piece of ducting going to your filter but it's just mixing with the other air and not staying "cold". Try and make a heat sheild to block the air from the fan and it might help a little.

Oh, so it does come with a bracket, well that's not too bad....
Where does it attach to?...You're not getting any rattling are you?

Oh, and don't worry too much about it being an SRI. Even dyno results give only about a 1-2hp differential between CAI's and SRI's. Besides it's tilted towards a cooler area and, while you're moving the air is cooler anyway.

As for watersoak, it's not an issue. Up here (in Canada) SRI's are most commonly used due to the winter months (some cars' CAI placement isn't as well covered as on our proteges), and believe me we get a good deal of moisture in our engines and no probs.

cool, thanks for the info ssmp5.

after work today i will be stopping by the metal place to look at some sheets for a heatsheld.

theman- my friend has a 1991 accord. since 1991 till now he has replaced the filter 2 times. when it got dirty he washed it with normal water. he has had no engine problems and the car runs perfectly. i've also heard of people using kerosone to wash it, just not any harsh solvent or it will come apart as you said.

a so cal member here with a miata also washed his HKS filter. i spoke with him about it at one of the Life meets. no problems there either.

i know its not recommended by HKS to not wash it but you can. if i **** up my engine its noy fault for not listening to the instructions =D
