Hit and Run accident

My 2009 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring got hit in a parking lot where i usually catch metro train to work on a daily basis. No notes, no withiness, nothing. Damaged areas are left headlight (HID), left foglight and the front bumper bar. All are needs to be replaced.

Im told the headlight unit costs 1,000 dollars. Fog light 400 dollars and so is the front bumper bar as well. Labor and taxes factored in and it costs me about 3,800 dollars to have it fixed. I had decided to do the job myself, replacing all parts. The spraypainting job are best left to the professionals

No I dont have the uninsured coverage with my insurance company. I opted that one out to save few dollars but yes, I have learned my lesson(bang)

the reson of this thread I created is to seek help who can find me some parts I mentioned above FOR REASONABLE prices and it can be as from salvaged CX-9

Your help much appreicated

Better place to get cheap price for CX9 parts I can see is eBay.
AFAIK, there's some seller are selling new/used headlight (both HID/Halogen) and Fog light. You may also get 8% cashback if you use bing search to link to eBay. However, it must be buy now and pay by Paypal.

I dont know what State you live in, but shouldn't your comprehensive side of your insurance cover this? To my understanding Uninsured motorist is when someone with no insurance hits you, there is a police report with both parties present and asailant does not have or cannot furbish proof of insurance. A hit and run incident should be automatically covered by your comprehensive insurance and you should only have to pay for your deductible. You and your insurnace cannot prove that whoever hit you does not have insurance because nobody knows who did it, therefore before spending the money, I would try to do a claim. The worst that can happen is your insurance denying your claim. Here in California it would definately be covered even if you do not have "uninsured motorist" coverage. Anyone please correct me if I am wrong.

He (the OP) could just have the liability coverage.
You're right. When there is no agreessor to be found, it should be covered under the comprehensive.

I work in the claims department for an auto insurance company. All states are different but in Cali uninsured can only be used if you know who the 3rd party is and they are infact uninsured, however other states you can use uninsured coverage on a hit and run, and a hit and run will always be covered under collision coverage. If another vehicle or object hits your car it will be collision. Comprehensive coverage covers things like hail damage, vandalism, theft, collisions with an animal, etc. etc.

But yes, when you are not at fault, it is always better to report a claim to your insurance carrier. They can be a great help in repairing your car in a situation like this.

I had a similar situation with my Cadillac STS last year--hit & run in a parking lot. My uninsured motorist paid for the repair. I chose that vs collision since the deductible is lower.
