Eventually it will show wear...if you have the time ..do the powdercoating...I bet a local shop can do it for $50 or less.Call around and ask them.

just powdercoat it... it isnt expensive, and will lat pretty much forever. plus is really easy to clean

Powdercoating is the way to go. The cost is only a little bit more, but the end result is one you'll be much happier with.

do it once. do it right. powdercoat.

amen to that...I ATTEMPTED to spray it w/ high temp paint (Autozone) showed heat stress real quick. Local Chromer powder coated the valve cover & my hardpipes w/ a few other BS things, combined for $90

can't beat that price

okay, what about this then? Interior plastic pieces(have those little design ridges in them) to get those looking flat, shiny, and pretty like the outside of a car, or painted fiber glass, how would one go about doing that? I have just using that stock plastic piece and making a fiberglass shell on the outside of it and having that painted, or applying a heavy coat of primer and then painting that primered piece. what would be the best method? of course the primer way would be the cheapest.

bump for some f'ing responses to keep this dying forum alive, i know its not the most exciting topic in the world but COME ON

as far as the plastic valve cover goes, i did paint mine with 900 engine enamel...still holdin up....

u paint the heat sheild too or that powder coated?...looks good....h/o i just got confused. Were we originally talking about the VALVE cover or the plastic ENGINE cover being powder coated? b/c if its the Engine cover i totally agree with 735, i sprayed mine & its still ticking......we talking valve cover or engine cover?

valve, but it doesnt matter, just curious to see if that stuff still holds up

for me at least high temp spray paint didnt really cut it on the valve cover, kinda looked reeeeeally stressed and over exposed to heat, very hard to clean. Engine cover is cake, i sprayed mine month or two ago & its still going. All comes down to how much your willing to spend for a different color valve cover.
