HIDs

How much do HIDs cost for a MS3? Where should i go to look for them?

My dealer said you can get them from them but not as an accessory, i gues it would be a whole replacement part. I've looked at a ton of posts and websites but i don't think i'm looking at something that isn't garbage. I guess you need to replace the whole casing. Is that what an HID kit is? I saw something on ebay that said they had HID kits with the ballasts for $189 but that doesn't seem right since my buddy spent $800 to put them in his '04 gti. What is retrofitting and why isn't it good?

also, do these kits come with the parts for the fog lights or the high beams or is that extra?

i wanted to get the GT but long story short it wasn't gonna happen for at least a month if i waited for one from my dealer and i needed to get rid of my old car stat.

sorry for my lack of knowledge on this topic but i can't seem to find, or at least figure out, what i need to know about HIDs. i've been to a ton of websites through this forum and by just googling but most of the hits i come up with seem to be for people who already know what they are doing.

Mazda Speed 3 are HB4 (9006) and HB3 (9005) bulbs

you don't have to replace the entire assembly - you just need to know the right bulbs to get. Those are your highs and lows.

The dealer said something about H7. is that something different?

You sure?!? I thought they still used the same bulbs as the 3.

Sorry guys - wrote down the wrong bulb :P

yes the headlights should take the same bulb as the 3 - which are H7's.

The bulbs I mentioned are your highbeams and fog lights.

Sorry for the confusion

If you have round fogs, then yes, H11. But for the rectangular fogs its HB4 (a.k.a. 9006). Per the owners manual.
