HID ?s on behalf of a friend ..

A friend of mine owns a Mazda3, and he approached me last night about where to buy an HID conversion kit for his car. Since I have one on my MSP, he figured I'd know where to pick one up.

So I just have some questions that might seem stupid, but I did some searching and just want to make absolutely sure that I've got things right. The last thing I wanna do is mess up my friend's car!

The Mazda3's headlights are set up like the P5 headlights, right? As in, there's seperate bulbs and 'headlight sockets' for the high and low beams -- they aren't a combination hi/low bulb like in my MSP. Therefore, I'd just have to look to replace the H7 low bulb in the HID kit, correct?

What brand aftermarket kits are out there? What about the ones I came across on Ebay? Such as, I found this one, and it looks respectable and has a one year warranty:

Are there any online stores that carry kits for the Mazda3, or will I do just as well picking one like this up off Ebay?

Thanks! :)

The GT Version of the mazdaspeed3 has them. Couldn't he just order that system?

To order anything directly from Mazda .. I mean, you know you're gonna get ripped off. I sure as hell don't order anything right from them unless it's an absolute emergency, so I'm sure not gonna tell my friend to.

Also an AV.

I have a kit from them and it is an excellent kit. You get what you pay for in my opinion and their customer service is superb.
Thanks for the link! I'll definitely mention them to him.

was install easy on the katsuro hid's?

Sorry, they didn't have Katsuro when I purchased mine. Mine are Xtec but HIDs are super easy to install. The hardest part is finding a place to mount the ballasts and all the wiring is with harnesses so it all plugs right in. The DDM HIDs on their website use small ballasts that are easier to mount. Also, the DDM and Apexcone versions come with a lifetime warranty.

Does anyone have any experience with the Katsuro kit? Out of the different options available, my guess is he'd probably choose to go with that one -- just cause I seriously doubt he'd be willing to shell out over $300 bucks for an HID kit.

The Katsuro kit does still come with all the warranties on both the bulbs and ballasts, so .. I guess it'd still be good, right?

2 yrs on ballasts/lifetime on bulbs

I have a ProLumen 5000K HID for the mazda3 i'm selling. They normally go for 275-290 shipped in GB pricing. here's my link: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123663285

they use the stock H7 wiring (no relay needed) and only takes a few seconds to connect all the wires. where he wants to put the ballasts and the igniters is up to him.

Ebay is not a place i'd suggest to purchase lighting that will cost you over $100. Dome lights and LEDs probably, but not when the replacement bulbs themselves are $150 a pair to replace when even 1 goes bad.
