HID kit can cause a static in radio !!

I read it on Honda forum. HID kit(ballasts) produce electromagnatic field and it can interfere with radio, XM, satilite radio. etc..

i tested with mine today and it does interfere with my AM stations.. it was somewhat intersting ^^

i am personally okay with that since i don't listen to radio...but those with XM radio.. Sirus people might need consider this..

hm, interesting indeed. My OEM Sirius tuner and antenna are both mounted in the rear so hopefully there's enough space between.

Doesn't the FCC have provisions protecting against this sort of thing? Virtually every electronic device in existence has one of those labels like this...

Yes, but your radio will fall into catagory 2. This is any Class C (?) device.

This is essentially a product of a cheaply-made or poorly-designed HID kit (i.e. insufficiently suppressed). Thanks for the tip.

There is at least one member on here that is fine using his HID kit in his lowbeams, but, when he installed them in his fogs in both his tribute, and I believe protege, he got static in both cars. Just a little side info

I've had zero issues with my Apexcone kit. No interference of any kind through FM, AM, or XM (using a hardwired connection not the wireless that comes with the unit)

I am using an Apexcone kit currently as well routed through the stock harness, and experience no buzzing. I believe the static occurs when running a second set of HID's in the fogs

yeah no issues here with my Hella Ballasts. And i listen to AM for my sports.
