Hi guys I just purchased a Yellow 2k3.5 MSP and I need a favor. I noticed that the car did not come with cruise control and that is something I MUST have. Where online can I purchase the Cruise Control module and where in the Carolinas can I get it put in right?

Thanks

I am no expert by no means but I think the reason it did not come with the cruise control is because of the turbo, they are still trying to figure out how to do that I could be wrong but that is what I heard:cool:

Does the MSP have ABS??? or did they cheap out on that too just like they did on the MP3 to keep the manufacturing costs down?

I WISH THE MSP DIDNT HAVE ABS. It kills ya in autox and road racing.

Back to topic though, I dont think Mazda has a cruise control kit for the MSP, but there are other companies that ca nhook you up, do a search on the web, and you should find one. :D

turbo has nothing to do with the reason as to why they took the cruise out. I heard it was because of the steering wheel...personally, I think that's B.S. as well. It's all about cost imho.

Their were a couple of people in the mp3 section that put cruise in theirs last year. Do a search. It isn't hard apparantly. Personally, if I'm driving a Turbo, why would I ever need cruise? Too much fun hearing it spool uo when I step on it :)

Believe it or not, JC WHitney has a kit with an electronic actuator for under $300. You'll probably need the electronic actuator because most cruise controls work with a vacuum actuator... and with the turbo there is sometimes pressure, not vacuum, so the vac actuator won't work.

Unless, that is, anyone has tried it with a vacuum reservoir and a one-way valve and found that it works...

Let me know! As far as I know, nobody has installed a cruise - YET - but it's just a matter of time for me. My thought would be to use the switches from a P5 (steering wheel mount) with an Audiovox (or other) electronics box and elecrtonic actuator. Should be fairly straightforward, just time-consuming.

That's what I was told also. They took off the CC because of the "special" steering wheel. Just looks like a regular steering wheel with some different stiching on it. \

Why not go to Mazda and see how much it would cost for them to install cc.

heard it was because of the steering wheel...

I have the MSP steering wheel on my Protege5 and the cruise control module fits perfectly.

The CC module does not fit under the hood, due to the strut tower bar.

The P5 has the same bar as the Mp3 and MSP, I am almost certain. The module fits perfectly.

I think the reason it did not come with the cruise control is because of the turbo

Have this too, I do. The turbo in no way interferes with the cruise control or vice versa. And yes, when using the "resume accel" function to get back up to your preset speed, the turbo will apply boost just as though you were using the gas pedal to accellerate.

I think it has something to do with the location they chose for the map sensor. Passenger side strut tower, I believe thats where the cruise control is located in my wifes protg ES. Come to think of it None of my turbo cars had cruise control. It may have something to do the turbo application.

WRX's have cruise control. You can definitely do it on a boosted car.

Where in the Carolina's?

Greenville, SC.

I had my WRX totaled due to a guy running a red light. So I know turbo cars have cruise!

well, it's good to see your back up and running again! I'm in that part of SC frequently so I'll keep an eye out for ya:)
