I went there....3 times!

So i have heard many good stories on the forums about Vip tinting and Jon who works there, good prices, cool! Alright so i made an appointment.

Friday took my car to VIP for MY APPOINTMENT at 4pm. After getting my car washed (pointless info but a piece in the story)

FIRST TIME: As i arrive dude comes out and says that they just took someone in and i would have to wait longer, possibly drop my car off overnight. Was planning on going out of town so that would not work. Since my car was just scratched at the car wash, and i had to go back and show them i decided to cancel. had they kept my appointment time i probably wouldn't have cancelled.

SECOND TIME: I decided to not go out of town so i can get my tint done. Made another appointment at 4. They take my car in and i'm waiting in the front room. Sweet finally gonna get it done. Dude comes out... "Your gonna hate me... I ran out of tint" HOw does that happen!? How do you operate a tint shop with no tint? wtf!!=( sadness and anger. As was leaving, there were a couple of employees wiping down their bikes. I don't blame them it was a nice day for a ride. Not saying that's why i got pushed back AGAIN, but like i said...it was a nice day for a ride. Just at my expense? not sure.

THIRD TIME: Due to my work schedule I asked my loving BF to take my car in for the appointment (now Monday) Appointment is at 1. I get a call from my BF at 1:30pm. He said "sweetie, they can't do it today, the tinter is sick and is not coming in" they even said we cant reschedule for tuesday because he was sick enough that he might need another day. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr...... fine! i understand sick, i get it. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING! haha lol. All i can do is laugh out of disbelief. So after thinking about this ALL day, I decide to call the shop to find out what is going on. Well the sick one is not only at the shop but answers the phone. All i wanted to know is why they keep rescheduling me, and if they just don't want to do my car. He said he was sorry and that we will reschedule for wednesday.

TODAY is tuesday and before i go there tomorrow i was wondering what you all think! I don't think im gonna go here anymore. I would like to give them a chance because of ALL the good things people say.

Have any good/bad experiences?

I have no experience with this place but from a business sense i would chock it up to sh!t happens...I am having the same problems getting a tattoo done, guy has had the drawing that i want done for probably 3 weeks and still hasent got it done. He has been sick, only works 3 days a week,busy,etc.... and when he wants to meet i work and vise versa.. I just chock it up to ohh well it will happen eventually. I am not going anywhere else because this guy is the best so i will wait my turn... I know that getting a tattoo relates nothing to tint but same principle.. if they are the best wait your turn, at the very least ask for a discount. that is what this guy is doing for me for me having to wait so long.

no! screw them! i would've looked for somebody else the second time around but i'm surprised u will be back for the FOURTH. u have things to do too and they just wasted your time...

unless u can get a discount yeah why not. but still...

yeah i went back because i heard good things. Maybe i was hoping they'd prove it? anyways they originally quoted me 190 but after going on saturday he said he would maybe give me a discount for the trouble. I heard they use computer cut outs too, is that bad? Don't these leave gaps? I saw your next mod is tint, have you thought about that? It's very possible i wont be going back.

good thoughts.... and yes i see how that relates to the story.

Sounds like all they are good at making excuses. They will probably be able to explain why the job they did isn't as good as you expected or why your trim is broken.

If they are stupid enough to "run out of tint" I wouldn't want them touching my car

maybe the order they had from a company that provides the tint fell through with a certain % and shipped all kinds but 1. you never know. four times deservs some compensation seeming you did drive there a few times. not to get something for nothing but if they called and you didnt drive out there it would be a bit different. but it is a business and sometimes you need to make up a somewhat poor service with some sort of freebee. hope it all works out. cant wait to see your pics.

Tint shops are a dime a dozen. I probably wouldn't have even given them a second chance. Who takes a walk in ahead of an appointment? The rest is just nonsense...

well guys... i went ahead and did it anyways.... not too much of a discount for my troubles but a discount none the less. paid 173 with tax and he did an awesome job. they also gave me a coke. yay...I guess it was worth the wait.... got it legal (for VA) 50 in the front and 35 in the back. took some pics but its bad lighting right now. too glarey.

ur one heck of a loyal customer... 173 is a good price. did they put tint on your whole windshield or just 6"?

I shouldn't have even bothered with them after all that. Should of just not shown up . I was itchin for tint tho. Was a good price. No tint on the windshield.

here's another question for ya? do they have LIFETIME warranty? cause if they don't i definitely would not have gone back after all that.

yea i went to ziebart and they charged me like 220 for eveything but the windshield at 20%. lifetime warranty against anything. peeling bubbling discoloration yada yada.

Sounds like you are satisfied with the tint. But I would not have gone back after the second time. Service is key to any business and sounds like they dont take it seriously.

btw, my tinter down here said the seven windows and four doors qualifies the car as a station wagon. I did not like the reference, but allowed me to go 35 front and 20 back so that made me happy. :)

damn it! i should of done that. station wagon.... blehh. SO i was thinkin about it and i think dude that rang me up for my tint pocketed some of the cash i put down. It was 173 total i gave him 110 in cash and 63 on my card. i noticed he only gave me a receipt for the credit card. and the other statement only said 60. that means i only would of paid 123 for my tint IE 50 bucks unaccounted for. NOT SURE tho. Im going to go back and ask for my cash receipt if they give me it and it says less than 110, I'm gonna FREAK OUT!!!!!! I had to ask for a discount for my troubles and here dude is taking it upon himself to take 50 bucks. This is not good. That is... if this happened.
