I've got a local installer with a stellar reputation that likes the Hertz line and is recommending same as a factory upgrade for my (non-Bose) '15 Touring. Looking around a bit online, they seem to be kind of in the same ballpark as JL etc. Offer 4 distinct lineups (good, better, best, bestestist), with component and coax in each. Ditto amps.

I'm not looking for overwhelming thunder, just reasonably high quality music with good separation and imaging, so I don't need massive wattage. And given the relative noise levels in the CX-5 going super top drawer strikes me as a waste, since genuinely detailed spaciousness is going to get drowned out. My impression is that the Hertz line is emphasizing sonics over pure volume, but I haven't had a chance to audition much. They do offer silk tweeter domes, which I prefer to aluminum-- those often get shrill, in my experience.

Anyone familiar with these? I'm considering component "better", which go for $250, and their base $250 amp, 70Wx4 (if I ever decide I need a sub I'll get a powered one). I'll have the tweeters set up in the existing dash mounts.

Youll be happy with hertz.they have good sq and for the price you cant really beat it

Hertz the speaker company made by electromedia not the car/heavy equipment rental place

They rent speakers too?

(lol2) that was a good one Chris. Addabox, Hertz speakers are great. I went with Focals in my Civic, but it would've been Hertz if they were cheaper. The SQ is great. But keep in mind, amplifier wattage is like horsepower, it's always good to have more than you need. In the amp's case, if you get a bigger amp than required, you can have the gain much lower which will equate to better S/N ratio than an amp that is pushing near it's maximum wattage. In my case, I have a JL 500/1 mono amp pushing my 12" Infinity sub but I have the gain only half way and it sounds SOO good.
