I am new to the turbocharge arena and i have a 2003 MAZDASPEED PROTEGE. The turbocharger is sending oil into my intake, i can smell it burning at idle and normal driving. I took off one of my intercooler pipes (FMIC) and there was oil coming from it. At high boost and/or RPM there is a lot of thick smoke coming out the exhaust. i was told i need a rebuild kit which i can't seem to find anywhere. From your experience what is the cause of this problem and what would i need to fix it

before you go off and tear apart your turbo, do you have an improved PCV valve? is your crank case vent a hose or air filter? Its possible its just some seriously bad oil blow by.

If you still have the stock PCV valve toss that and get the millenia PCV valve from PG this should help a bit.

Also check the seals on the oil return line you might need to replace the o-ring.

one last thing, if your turbo is infact blown and you need to either replace or rebuild, after doing so make sure you have killed the turkey (compressor surge)

thank for the quick reply. will what u suggest account for that much oil in the intercooler piping. i have the ball bearing type turbo do these rebuild? where can i get a rebuild kit or will i have to replace the turbo?

Can anybody else help me here? Situation getting worst. Can anyone tell me if i need a new turbo

you have an FMIC and are running stock boost? I doubt that. Personally I think your just experiencing oil blow by. Get some Krank Vents and a catch can and it should fix your problem. If you still have oil in the pipes after that then the turbo needs a rebuild but I think its MPINick who can do a rebuild for you
