allright so here is my situation...

i have never had it in the plans to lower my car because i just love the handling as is. it was my birthday recently and my broter decided to buy me a set of tain s-tech springs.

now my question is, what shocks should i run with those springs? should i just put them on the stock msp shocks or buy some performance shocks and which? i heard that after you put lowering springs on the stock shocks the car will be too bouncy...what is the best way to get the best out of lowering my msp with tein s-tech's?

thanks in advance (2thumbs)

well if youve got an MSP like your info says. youve got tokico blues as stock shocks. which is a pretty good combo with s techs. only problem is the s techs sit you higher in the rear and with the MSP tokico shocks having a higher rear perch than regular tokico shocks. you will sit a little higher in the back when all is said and done.

s techs are pretty good though. if you want a good drop. check out the espelirs. good combo of springs rates for the front and rear. and its an even 1.4 inches front and back. so that means you will only sit a tad higher in the rear.

youve pretty much got a tight setup stock. so basically just switching out springs would get you where you want to be. some MSP guys have gotten the illuminas in the rear, just to even things out.

if you have lots of miles or been through a few winters(since your in cowtown), i would say get a set of illuminas. if not, your stockers will go great with the tein springs.

didnt know that the rear actually gets raised :(

the weather here has been good so far, mind you i just got this car about a month ago and i drove it in the snow only once (thank god for the 4runner lol) and my car has only 70km

so what you guys are saying is keep the stock struts? how will the ride quality be affected with stockers?

it should be a little stiffer than the ride now. keep in mind. the MSP comes with tokico blues. which is the shock most of us non MSP guys purchase to pair with a lowering spring.

you should be good to go with the teins on your stocks. if they arent aged too much.

You'll be fine on your stock struts.

And I don't believe the S-Tech's RAISE the back of the car -- they just don't LOWER the back much when compared to the front. It winds up giving the car a 'raked' look.

Here's what my MSP looked like on stock struts with the S-Tech springs. However, my wheels are 18" and my tires are 35 series, and this was also taken before the springs had 'settled'. So yours won't look quite the same. And don't laugh at my stickers or ugly tails -- the pic was taken in '05, when I still had a little ricer in me. :(

I installed S-Tech with stock struts in my P5. It was a great ride. You'll only "bounce" if your struts are shot.

ahha ok wicked! thanks for the imput everyone!!

im going to lower it tonight most likely (its snowing here and im going to see if i can borrow a friends garage) and i will post before and after pictures for everyone and so that someone else with the same question has something to work with (alright)

oh and Rush, dont worry about the old look, im sure everyone went trough those days once :) i really like your car. it was the msp that helped convince me into buying mine (kissass)

I'm in northern Philly, just across the actual county line into Montgomery. I live in Elkins Park, a lil' area just below Jenkintown/Abington.

o cool cool. i went to art school right outside chestnut hill down in ErdenHeim. had an apartment in chestnut hill. super nice area the more you head away from the city.lol some of the kids that went to my school were from the jenkintown area. fun place to ride bmx bikes too.

allright, sorry i didnt post the updates yet but the car is finally lowered and i love the new raked look!

the install was pretty easy, just the swaybar end links gave me a bit trouble. the ride quality did not change much, i do notice the bumps on the road a little bit more but nothing crazy since the stock setup is somewhat stiff as is. didnt get the chance to push the car around the corners because of road conditions over here so i dont know if the handling got better or worse. the fromt got lowered a bit (noticable enaugh) and the rear pretty much stayed the same hight, maybe a tiny tiny bit lower but it is not too obvious

now as for pictures....i took before pictures with my friends camera and im waiting for him to send them to me. i can not take after pictures just yet because i have to find my camera lol
