HELP!! Shop cant install my cpe dp!!

I just got home from the shop today after being there for almost 4 hours. After 2 and a half hours the tech comes to me and says "the o2 sensor is locked(frozen) and i cant get it out without breaking it" he then goes on and says this is the most diffucult car he has ever worked and. So he told me i have to buy a new o2 sensor for $150 from somewhere else then i can come back and he would install it but it will take them all day so they would have to charge me more. Anyone else have this problem because i am confused and really pissed off right now.

Sounds like you need to go somewhere else ;) O2 sensors can and do get seized...but the comment of being the hardest car to work on would turn me away from that shop....

yeah take is somewhere else. Sounds like he looking to make it out worse than it really is. It very well may be seized but what kind of shop can;t try to lube it up and try to thread it on and off.

thanks for your replies but I got 1 more problem. driving it home my car sounded a lot louder with mostly droning above 3.5k revs. what did they do or not do to make my car sound like ass?

Search old threads about cork dp's. The o2 is a b****. You have to crack it loose wd 40 it and put it back in. Then crack it loose again and add more wd 40 and put it back in. Do that 20 times untill the dumb sensor comes out. Mine was hard with 5k on the odometer. The threads are m18x1.5 if you bugger them up slightly. You can use a die to clean them but you may not want to reinstall it if that happens because you could damage the new pipe.

If it's the wideband, those sensors are ~$400. Back it out till it seizes. Scew it back in. Back it out till it seizes again. Repeat until the thing comes out. I literally spent 45 minutes on one getting it out. Looked like ass when it was done but threaded right back in with no problems. Use a ton of PB Blaster during the whole process.

Look, the easiest way to get them bitches out is to disconnect the sensors from there plugs. Take the DP out and work on the there. That way you will not have to worry about messing up the wires.

Your mech sucks ass... With 10k on mine, it only took 15 minutes for both and alot of that softener stuff. Just unscrew and screw as mentioned until the come out ease.

+1. I did this helping a buddy do headers on his car. Why try to fight it out in the cramped ass engine bay? Unplug, take out the pipes, handle it there. Problem solved. You'll have more leverage on it, more room, more light, everyting you need.

OP said:

He's obviously never worked on a 300ZX Twin Turbo.

I just installed my DP and i had no problems at all with the o2 senors. I sprayed PB on them and let it sit on there while i was taking the turbo man bolts off. If you ask me those were way harder to come off. But anyways I used a 02 socket and it came right off. No problems at all

I don't think you can take out the stock DP with the O2 sensor installed...its a very tight squeeze!!!! I had to take mine out!!

The only way to get the O2 sensor out is as describe on the previous posts. Crack it, tighten it, crack it, tighten it, etc.... Until you work it out.
YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT FORCE IT OUT!!!! Unless you want to buy a new one for $400. I had to do the same to install it on the new pipe. Tighten, loosen, tighten, loosen, until it seated...

Most people and mechanics do not know this about our cars!!

And honestly, our cars are pretty easy to work on, you just have to take your time...

Take it somewhere else... I would have taken it to Mazda frankly...

same exact thig happened to my dp install. shop couldnt get it out, i had them soak it for 15 min and told him to just try again. it came out after that. i guess they were just being cautious!

It sounds like either the machanic is lazy or doesn't have the right tool for the job and knows he's gunna break the sensor. Hopefully he didn't strip it. Take mine and everyone elses advice, PB blaster the hell out of it, work it in then out, and BE PATIENT. Heating it helps to but the trick is to heat the bung so it expands and releases the threads, not the actual sensor.
