Help: RPM readings for shift light!

People, I got the Autometer Slim Shift Light. Its just this plain shift light with the 6.6 pill.

But, where can I hook it up to read RPMS? It has 3 wires: red, black and green. I suppose red is positive, black is ground and green is RPMs. Dont know where to hook the green one to.

Any help?

The green wire attaches to the coil NEGATIVE. You're right about the red/black. Red 12V, and Black ground.

hey igdrasil theres a little blackbox in the driverside enginebay on the firewall and out of that lilbox theres a purple and white wire splice that one and it will give u the rpm's readings .ill post some pics tomorrow(to late to take pic of it now)

Thanx this helped me alot as well. I am making a diagnostics for myself that will give me the a/f readings at rpm and log it on a laptop.. Should be cool.. TTY

But now I'm looking the wire to plug the ligth for the nigth. If I could only know the color of the wire inside the dash it would be nice cause I want the ligth to be open only when I open my ligths. Thanks again!

I found it. I was the green/black wire, thanks anyway.

i have a 04 mazda 3 and i will be hooking up a auto meter autogage 5in tach with shift light and was wondering which wire to connect the green wire off the tach to the car?

was wondering if the i would wire the green wire from the tach to the purple and white wire. i dont know if it is the same since i have a mazda 3.

how did you guys run the wire through the fire wall to your tach?

Their is a gromit right below and a little to the left of that box (where you splice into) just run it through their. hell i have a 4 ga pwr wire, vac hose for my boost guage and abt 20 other wires running through their!!

BTW a metal coat hgr cut and straightened will help you run it through their alot. just tape the wire to the end and run it through!!
