Help needed

Today the engine light came on when on the motorway doing about 75 had the code read and it came up P0439, the garage said it was the egr valve but looking on the net it say it could be the cat heater control curcuit, could someone point me in the right direction becuase i dont want to get stung

Sounds like there is a problem with the O2 sensor or the circuit to me. Unless there is some EGR valve damage or a reason they are looking at it I would test the O2 sensor and make sure it is within range of the specs.
