when your driving in the msp going over say 35-40 miles an hour is the car supposed to make a rumbling noise, even if u shift into nertral? for some reason when im driving and im going 35-40 miles and hour its as if im hearing this rumbling noise in my car. i dont remember it doing this before. when im driving down the street acclerate to over 35-40 miles an hour and shift into neutral i can still hear this and it is quite loud. has any else had this problem or is it just me. thanks for any input

Hmmm..?
Can you describe the noise a little better...How about a location you think its coming from...any other factors involved?

Does the rumble change with speed or engine RPM? Have you checked your tire pressures? Is there anything sticking in them or do they have weird wear patterns?

Well it sounds like it is coming from the wheels. I did just get them changed. i got a different brand than the stock ones. Continental.
The noise is just like a vibrating noise. i really cant describe it any other way.

I believe it changes with speed. the faster i go the more u can here it. If im going like 50 mph and drop it into neutral it is still there. I did just recently get new tires. I got continental not potenzas. you think that might be the reason. not sure about the pressure ill check it and post later today.

tire direction does not do that (if you put unidirectionals on wrong), but maybe cheap ones would.
My first though was lugs, but at high speeds it should go away.... its the opposite if lugs are loose.

nope i just checked them. Their all pretty tight.

I recommend you take it back to the shop that mounted/balanced your tires and have them check the balancing on all four. I have the feeling one of them isn't balanced properly. Get back to us and let us know the outcome. (hopefully a cure).

there is also the fact that i only changed the front two. the back two are still potenzas u think that has anything to do with it.

you can run two different sets of tires on a car... thats fine... just make sure that they are both on the same end and not on the same side. Meaning, keep both potenzas either on the front or rear. Don't put potenzas on the drivers side and then the continentals on the passenger side. Make sense?

Is the noise coming from the new continentals in the front? Take 'em to the shop to check the balancing.

oh also possible wheel bearing but most likely the tires since it started happening after u install the tires

well i took the car to the dealership. at first they thought it would be the wheel bearings to but when they lifted it and looked at the transmission they found metal shavings in there. now im waiting for their response to tell me whats going to happen. man this better be under warranty.

LSD goin. Not uncommon, just do a search on LSD failures.

i did look around and man there is a lot of people with that problem. the only question i didnt get answered was will the warrenty still cover it.

OK. well the dealer got back to me and here is what they found. it turns out it is not lsd failure. first my they need to replace my right wheel bearing. my stabilizing link is damaged. and they need to replace my rear stabalizing bushing. oh and also my front right rim is bent. man that is just to much. if that is not enough they also say that the wheel bearing wont be under the warranty because my front suspension is an aftermarket one meaning that it was replaced for some reason. and after calculating everything it will cost me 500 dollars to get everything done. man. there goes my evo hood.
