All i know is that it's a 93....i'm guessing it's 1st gen.....but wanting to know nething u can tell me about the car....like wondering what kinda HP and torque the thing has...prolly will need some pics of the engine too, i'll see if i can get some soon. ...wtf?

Did you buy this or something? It appears to be an ES..I think. They have a 1.8L BP motor in them. Not too bad. Those are fantastic for swapping in the 323 GTX/GTR swap into...Do yourself a favor and get all of those hideous badges off..

What's so hard about this? It's a Mazda G-Zone Protege Evolution Type-R, HKS Edition (they're rare).

Bwahahahahahhahahaaa! (rlaugh)

Well i took a quick pic of my engine.....and i also checked my VIN at carfax and it said
Year/Make/Model: 1993 MAZDA PROTEGE GT
Body Style: Sedan 4 DR
Engine Type: 1.8L L4 MFI/FI
So what's a GT? how'z it in Acura Terms....RSX in perticular cuz i know that best...Is the GT, the Base of the RSX? is it the Type S?....i'm pretty sure it's not the Type S cuz it's only a 1.8L and my car tops out pretty easily......

The GT is pretty rare. I think it was only in canada that they were produced. It had the 1.8L BP DOHC, came stock with a spoiler, and some other goodies. There's alot more info about 1st gens on www.clubprotege.com

I don't think it's too far away from the LX, which is like 125hp/112tq, I think it's got upgraded supension and other stuff... Check out clubprotege, alot of knowledgeable 1st genners there.

Uh..the 323 GT? That would be a 1.6L turbo...I drove one not too long ago. It's basically a protege with a GTX motor in it. Weird digital instruement cluster and such. Lots of fun though. Definetly a quick little bastard. It is a very rare car, not many are left in the states. My buddy just finished rebuilding his GT. Hauls a serious amount of ass.

I don't keep up with the models of 1st gens.. Calling it an ES was good enough for me.

You people are tools. If it's a Protege GT, then it's exactly the same as a 1st gen LX. Aside from the interior (which matches the 323 GTX interior) and the rear spoiler. The engine is the same 1.8L DOHC BP engine found in the US LX, so numbers are identical. HP: 125 @ 6500 rpm TQ: 114 @ 4500 rpm.
The GT was Canadas "Top-o-The-Line" 1st Gen Protege. Basically it's a US Protege LX with a nicer interior. And as ScottD said, it's a rare version of the 1st gen that was only available in Canada.

I can't seem to make my car go over 4000 rpm in 5th gear.....and even ffrom 3k-4k seems like the engine has to work really hard.......the car tops out at like 110kph, that normal for a car like mine?

No, something is wrong. It should pull pretty good from 4k to redline in 1st through 4th. I cruise at around 4k in 5th, you should be able to pull close to redline in 5th gear.

what's the rev limiter suppose to be set at? cuz mines at 4000 rpm. even from 1st through to 4th gear it's very hard to get from 3k rpm to 4k rpm i gotta mash the gas to get it to go to 4k rpm

Something's definitely wrong then... I have the crappier engine and I can make it pull a lot harder than that

Man, I'm sick of this. The GT is not 'an American LX with special interior.' It was build in Hiroshima strictly for Canada. Not sent to the US, then adding on the goodies when it got to Canada. It has the Familia GTX interior(not the 88 GTX, but the BG 4-door GTX in Japan), rear spoiler, red pinstriping(big deal), and the only option was AC. In 93, it had the 323 style hood and headlamps, a year before it was anywhere else in North America. I could just as well say the LX is a de-optioned, unloaded GT..........

Kyle man, I'm disappointed in you. I figure you've seen enough pictures, and heard me rant enough about my GT to know what it is........
