THe box matters, kind of... if you're just running sealed, though it's not THAT big of a deal. and F/G ported is a sweet idea, yes, but possibly tricky, though I may be tackling that one soon enough

My real advice, though is don't be SUPER quick to listen to anyone in particular. it's all subjective. I'd study-up a bit. Butyes, JL's are sweet and hard to deny. fortunately you can go down and listen to them. REALLY take a look at eD, though I've yet to find anyone who's been disappointed.

i love my jl12w6v2.. i sold my ed after i got it.. not because i liked it more or less. but cus my gerl bought me the jl.. first car thing she ever bought me in 4 years -=X
i have mine in a ported box.. firing back at the hatch.. so yeah. its loud.. loud as s*** to be exact.. if u dont want it so loud.. go with a nice tight sealed box.. and mess with your amp setting a little. -=P

yea somewhat true, but the size of box will matter for sure(although in sealed applications you can be more off then others), also need to know amp wattage to help sizage of the box, i like that word "sizage" lol

what car do you have?
What kind of box are you thinking? (I"m assuming sealed Fiberglass)
How big of a sub are you thinking (I'd say a single 10 would be perfect)
and what amp are you gonna be pushing it with (or do you not have one yet?)
oh, and yes, any sort of $ cap?

i used to be a "mmats only" person, but i decided to try out a brahma that im still waiting for, i already have the box and wires ran lol(i was bored and decided to build everything ready for install) i still believe juggs are one of the loudest subs on the market(i was hitting 150 consistently with 1 15 in the p5), although the SQ just isnt there

well alot of the name-brand fiends are the types who'll preach audiobahn is the coolest.. *L* I actually also like those black eclipse 87001 subs.

I've come a LONG way since my "kicker is the coolest" days... damn I threw alot of $ at that company.

yo fizzle> you might be in a bit better luck than you think... deal goes like this: I've got a box that is PERFECT for a 12a. THat 12a, however might be going to a friend soon... and I might need to take on my initial goal of doing a FG blob with a slot-port that runs unnder a false floor... basicalyl coming down to... 12a FG box might be available...

As for hearing an eD, hey I'm likely going to a corksport meet thing in a couple of weeks if you're still shopping bythen.

possibly because it's a bunch of stirred up hype. The L7 hype is really getting out of hand... At least Kicker's bringing some decently build ported enclousres back around. butyes. *ick* I can't believe I used to like them soomuch... Granted. I still do think the round Solobarics were sweet...
