Help me defend the rotary!

LS1 > 13B.

There is nothing left to discuss, the only advantage is that the 13B revs higher. YAWN.

Rotarys and turbos just are not a reliable combination. I am not at all a GM fan, but I can see all the benefits of doing the swap. Basically, what's the downside of doing this? If it were my choice, I'd swap in a 302 or 351, but that's another argument altogether.

20B's alone are more expensive than the entire V8 swap. Good heads and a healthy cam make quite a bit of power :)

you can pick up a 20B twin turbo Eunos Cosmo for under 10k CDN

The downside is that you can't yell ROTARY POWAR!! when talking about your car.. Then you have to explain what torque means to another RX-7 owner.

So much for giving the author of this thread some good points to bring up in his LS1 v.s. Rotary debate. lol

PGTBrow, saw you in Hagerstown tonite at the cruise in at the mall. Or at least I saw your car.

Please do no DISHONOR your FD!Keep the 13B,is capable of 700hp+.I bought a JDM 13bTT a couple of months ago to swap out the 12A in my 1st gen 7.Its a badass motor besides who cares about a 8cylinder making 350hp stock, it has 8 cylinders + the look on that V8 guy's face when u whoop him with your lil 1.3L PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!(shocked)

I drove it but didn't put it in the show. Car's stock save for RB springs. LOL.

i get 21mpg city and 25 on the hwy, stock 6speed
See to me that's, when a 500 hp american car can get 30 mpg on the highway a Japanese 4 banger should get atleast that.

I'll be buying an n/a FC in about 6 months and I'll be leaving it rotary powerd :D thats why I want it hehe

Doesn't the 13B make the FD close to a front mid-ship? Wouldn't the LS1 throw off the balance a little? Most people consider it sacriliges to swap engines between different companies. I don't think anyone would stone you if you put a Mazda(or ford engine used in a mazda) though. There are some powerful V6's, and turbo inline 4's from Mazda/ford that you could also consider.

lets see the LS-1 rev to 10K RPM.

It doesn't need to.

lets compare wieght,

The LS1 weighs 50lbs more than a 13b with the turbo equipment.

eifficiency.

The LS1 will get better gas mileage, but gives less power per liter. Depends on what kind of efficiency we're talking here.

the only time a LS-1 is better for a idea is on the dragstrip, but then the car better be a track only car.

That's not true. The LS-1 is more reliable, more modifiable, only only a little heavier.

If only it weren't a pushrod. :(
