Help: FMIC Install problems

My Fabricator has the car right now and says there is no way he can have both inlet and outlet on the same side and keep the stock IC in place. I told him to keep the stock IC in place because I want to put the full size radiator in at some point.

So does anyone have the full size radiator and both inlet and out let on the same side. If so I need pics of the routing.

Both Spool and Hiboost kits work with a full size radiator, not sure if wagner made a kit or not, but they all would be a good reference minus the fact they were on a different turbo setup, should still show you some routing options. Let me know what your fabricator does and costs, I want to do the same thing.

If I'm remembering correctly, ION's kit doesn't use that space because they also wanted a larger radiator.

Right but to have both inlet and outlet on the same side, the Fab guy said there is not enough room to stack the pipes on top of each other, which is what would need to be done in order to have them both on the same side without extra runs

all the current predone kits have the inlet and outlet on seperate sides.

Btw cost is 1,000 that includes painting the pipes

So don't have them on the same side(thought)

edit: sorry for being a smartass, I'm sure there is a logical reason you want them on the same side.

Sorry missunderstood the pipe thing. Haven't seen or heard of anyone doing that without removing the stock IC and not running extra pipe back around the otherside.

No need to be sorry. :)

I was goign to do both on the same side because I thought less pipe was better. But maybe now I know why most people don't do it that way.

I see. It's probably not a big deal, but to me it seems easier for air to go in one direction (inlet/outlet pipes on opposite sides) than to have the are change direction in the intercooler (inlet/outlet on same side). Again, probably not a big difference, but it looks to me that is the only way to go for you.

And BTW, I'm jelous...I want a god damn FMIC(hump)

It seems to me that someone had them both on one side and ran the inlet pipe along the top of the IC to the passenger side and then went though the frame to the turbo. That may be the only way. Extra pipe is not a big concern, IMO.

Yea well, I broke. I told the Fab guy just to run them on opposite sides, so now he has to get another IC so it may mean a delay:( Oh well, the price of having a custom kit:):):)

Oh also, the 1,000 price includes the piping and the filter (K&N) for a CAI and the welding on of the BOV flange.

I think I got a good deal, just can't wait to see it.

sweet. post up pics when you get it done.

for future reference to other memebers: the Hiboost kit will not allow for the upgraded radiator like the SPOOL or iON kit. it uses the empty space for piping.
