ok i have a Mazda rx-7 Turbo II and it will not start when it is hot. it starts fine when it is cold, but after i turn it off it wont start back up untill it gets completly cold. i just put a new motor in and it still does it. also my car hesitates at high Rpm. what is wrong with my car? once it starts it drives good exept the hesitation it just wont start back up. PLEASE HELP!!!

You said you put a new motor in, I assume you mean a starter? What year is the car and is it still under warranty? When did you notice this first happening?

Will the car turn over, but not start, or will it just not turn over? This is one of the oddest things I have heard. Also, assuming it turns over, does it sound like the starter is struggling? There may be increased friction in the motor -- due to poor lubrication or, more likely, to an aftermarket part which is expanding when hot -- that the starter cannot overcome.

In other words, assuming it turns over, is it just the starter working, or can you hear it firing?

ahhh yes the hot start problem on the FC it is very common, the problem is your inj. are leaking and flooding the motor out when warm, you can have them cleaned or just pull your EGI fuse (green one ) and crank it over a few times then put the fuse back in and start it up

Damn, I remember a friend having that problem with a different car and can't remember what the solution was...argh, I'll let you know if I can remember. (dunno)

Does that engine have a cold start injector? If so you may be having injector problems. Still waiting to hear back from the friend who I thought had a similar problem.

guys i have seen this problem sooo many times it is the injectors leaking

OK, I talked to my friend who had the problem, and he said his EGR sensor went bad and was dumping too much fuel in. I'm not sure how the EGR sensor could cause that, but maybe it was actually the O2 sensor was showing a lean condition, so it was adding too much fuel to correct. Either way, it's something to look into.

that has nothing to do with it, the injectors get old (probably stock) and under pressure the will leak when off and just drip fuel into the motor, no joke i have seen about 20 cars with this problem

this is off of mazdatrix's site
We continue getting a number of cars (86-92) in our service department (and many phone calls) with leaking fuel injectors. The main symptom is flooding after the car has been sitting for a few hours. It can manifest itself after running for as little as a

minute or two! Basically, if you try to re-start the car anywhere from a few minutes, to a few hours later, it just will NOT start. The "no-start" is usually OK after sitting for the night.
The injection systems hold residual fuel pressure for many hours after the engine is shut off, and if an injector is leaking, it will simply drip fuel in the engine until the pressure has stopped. This part we have assembled should be considered a temporary fix, or a diagnostic tool only, because it is not going to fix the root problem. However, it can get the car back on the road for a lot fewer $$ than new injectors. Plus - it is hard to find out which injector(s) are the problem - you have four!
It is installed in-line where the fuel supply and return lines attach to the engine, below and forward of the oil filter. There is a very small jet inside the "H" that allows the residual pressure to bleed back to the tank, thereby preventing the pressurized dripping past an injector.
----- The Kit includes the fuel lines and clamps needed, plus installation instructions. -----

and this is what you 'll need if you are to cheap to get the inj. cleaned

hey it will start up fine when the car is really cold. after i turn it off it will not start at all. it will crank but not start. even if i trun it off then turn it on right after it still wont start. do u still think it is the injectors?

next time you have ran it for a while and it won't start pull the EGI fuse and crank it a few times then re install the EGI fuse and if it starts than it is the inj. (the EGI fuse is the green 40amp one in the engine bay near the Batt)

He's exactly right, he knows what he's talking about. Listen to the guy and either replace the injectors or buy the valve from Mazdatrix.

FC3S Boy, we need to admin this part of the forum. There arent to many rotary literate people on the board.

ok i tried to pull the egi out today and crank it then put it back and it allmost started up but didnt. i tried this a few times and the same thing kept happening. what do u think it is? still the injectors?

How long did you let the car sit? Flooded rotaries are not fun to restart. Remember, there is no compression in that motor till its running.
