Help! Can't get license plate light lenses off.

I'm trying to swap out the existing 194's for led's but can't seem to get the lenses off. The manual shows a flathead screwdriver pulling in one direction. That doesn't do anything but loosen the entire thing so that now the whole thing jiggles a little but the lens still will not come off. Anybody try to get the lenses off?(argh)

Been there, done that....wasn't able to figure it out either even though it seemed so obvious....didn't feel like breaking it apart with the screwdriver... <sigh>

when i did my oil change from the dealership, I just asked them nicely if they can replace my bulb with LED and they did, try asking the dealership when you do your service

Lenses off assembly or the two light assembly off the rear gate?

It's not as easy to remove the assemble of the car and once it's off, disconnect the wiring harness and it's not too easy to remove the lens off the assembly. The owners manual says the right process but not very clear, you would just have to try harder for both. Too little force will not get the assembly off the car. Once its off, inspect the assembly then a small flat screw drive can pry open the lens. At the end, you need to make sure the assembly "SNAP" back to the car accordingly.
