Question... I ran a 16.128 @ 84.043 mph.. WTF is up with this time. I was at 3000 eleveatino that converts it to 15.8 1/4 mile time. Does this stupid Injen CAI even do anythihng or does it slow me down top end? because there is to much air? I have a feelin that it makes me slower... I have a Stock exhaust system. Pleaes help

IMO, its bulls***.

Well i don't know if it is good or bad but I am running a 14.07 @ 100 MPH in the 1/4 with only an Apex D/P and a boost controller!
I dunno???
Matt:rolleyes:

Just about any CAI is bulls***. Sure it draws in a little more air but you can never really get anything cold unless it from the outside. Mass marketing bulls***. Its pretty thats all.

injen shouldn't slow you down. if anything, it should help lean out the extremely rich fuel mixture albeit only slightly.

aren't you running stock boost? the car stock comes in at about a mid 15 second car. the intake isn't gonna help THAT much. what was the temperature like at the track. the turbo won't be as efficient if temps were higher.

uh..do you launch? what rpm? shifting where? do you shift well? there are many factors involved..

Ive laucnhed at 4k rpm and 3.5k rpm and i get 2.40x 60 feet times. I shift 6500 rpm and only get 84 mph. I've ran this time for 4 times in a row. So i was just curious If the CAI could be bad for top end since there sso much air going into it and not enough to go out.

Check a dyno. Injen CAI on the MSP is 10-12 HP. YOu can do a search and find the posted dyno if you do not believe the results.

Regardless, I doubt the CAI is hurting your times. There are so many variables that could be messing with your times I wouldn't even know where to being. You might want to look into doing a little weight loss for your car and also getting in more runs. Practice always helps:)

The power on these cars drops off at about 6k. If you are shifting at 6500, you're wasting time.

10-12 where in the powerband? Take your hood off and run a hose from the stock callaway elbow to the front off the car and duct tape it. That should be better than a CAI, lol.

I was just looking at the dynos and the injen doesnt start to make noticeable power until 4-4.5k, which is where we used to have hesitation. I think think its a waste of money with the new flash and ForceFed is running almost into the 13's with a stock airbox. Injen = bulls***.

Looks to me like a bad launch. Try and chirp it and go. Ride the clutch a little bit so you can leave the line at higher rpm without having the hardcore wheel hop.

I realize you're at a higher elevation but 60 ft times should still be 2.2 or so on street tires. Remember, for every tenth in the 60 ft, you can shave off two tenths off the 1/4. That should put you in the mid 15's converted time which is about right for stock boost. Also, the hesitation doesn't help any.
