HELP!! 215/45/17 on a p5??

hmmm. what's the offset on those puppies? i test-fitted a set of Konig Tantrums (17x7, +40mm) with the same size tires, and they looked HUGE on the car. wheels themselves looked great, but made the car looked way lifted (think AMC Pacer) and stuck right out to the edge of the body. maybe if i had smaller tires on them (the 215/45/17's were almost an inch taller), it would have looked better...i would say skip those tires and get a set that fit.

i dont know the offset, but i just tried one on to see how it looked, i think im better off sticking with the stock rims, they dont look right on the p5. its just hard to pass up such a deal. these are big. ive read a few threads, but none have said anything about 215's. i think the biggest ive heard of is a 205/40/17

I would guess the offset is probably +38 ...

215/45 tires are fine as long as your wheels have a high enough offset (like, at least +45).

IF you want to use a 215....its all good...but you should use a 215/40....not a 45. In fact the 215/40 is closer to the diameter of the stock tire than the 205/40 is.

I am running 17 X 7.5 wheels....and 215/40 Yokahama ES100's....the wheels have a +48 offset and it all fits fine UNDER the fender....no rubbing.....and I have it dropped on Eibach springs.

IF you are in a P5...and you want new wheels.....do yourself a big favor and ensure they are +48 offset....you will be much happier down the road. you can get away with a +45 on a 7 inch wide wheel.....but a +48 would be better.

i tried a rim on to see what it looked like on the p5. and it didnt look good. im better off with the stocks. it was very hard to pass that one up for the $$$
