Miata and Evo
I'm a Miata guy but I'll be lurking your forums for a while doing research on MSP's 'cause I'm looking at having one as a daily driver. Currently drive an Evo VIII and a Miata. Definitely not a stranger to boost. Only other car I'm looking at for a daily is an Integra GSR which seems a million times more reliable but I like how uncommon MSP's are and that I won't be in constant fear of it getting stolen like a GSR.

Welcome and I feel you on the GSR. I have a 95 GSR w/ JDM Front and am always cautious of it. Glad you are looking into an MSP for a daily as that is what I am currently rebuilding for as well, a daily except I am forging it for reliability. I recommend reading the stickies in the MSP/Protege section. A lot of info to be had.

Welcome mr. Boo. I love the look of the MSP :) better than the gsr IMHO, and won't get stolen ;)

Welcome. Yeah my Integra was stolen a few months ago and pieced out (down to the frame) in less then 24 hours. Cops found it and took it to the junkyard where it's currently sitting.

Ironically, I had a love for MSP's back when my brother and his friends had them. I admired there beautiful bodies and rarity. I found gorgous "stock" spicy a couple weeks after my insurance filed my teg gone. Couldn't be more happier. I'm loving her right now and as you can see I have been pretty busy getting her up to speed, sort of speak. :D

Hope you make the right decision and like others have said, there are lots of great info about the MSP on here. I just keep reading and learning...

Thanks for the welcome guys. I actually wanted an MSP when they first came out but they seemed really problematic, after browsing these forums on a whim the other night I come to find a lot of things that turned me off to the car seem to have fixes or work arounds at least. Still saving up for a new DD. Now to decide whether to get rid of my Miata to make more room...

welcome! why you getting rid of the evo? just too many problems?

Keeping my Evo. It's my Miata I'm thinking about getting rid of. My Evo has been pretty reliable compared to my Miata even though it has some mods here and there and gets beat to s*** when I drive it.

cool. any pics of the evo?

Well I have had my MSP for 165xxx miles and it runs great. I have replaced the clutch and the shift forks, but I did it all myself. I plan on keeping it and running the heck out of it, then build it

Maybe...I'm trying to remain relatively anonymous since some buddies of mine are lurking on here and I don't want to reveal too much about MSP plans......

haha makes sense. well if u ever do decide to post some let me kno. i love evos since we dont have anything prior evoX up here in canadaland

Hello welcome. Join us at the other Mazda owners club of california. MOCCforums.com

I also had a hard time picking between a 4dr GS-R or a MSprotege. I chose the protege after the integra I was looking at sold and I am glad I did. It is so much more unique and I know the integra would have been stolen a few days later. I can't keep anything stock and that would attract to much attention towards the integra. Not saying that the MSP isn't worthy of being stolen just that a lot more people know how easy it is to steal integras over the MSP.

*puts flamesuit on*

So I have a question for you guys. Does the MSP share the same exact chassis with the MP3 and Protege or is the chassis stiffened/reinforced? Kind of like how the ITR has a few little differences in the chassis from the Integra RS/GS/LS/GSR?

Welcome aboard, love your screen name, one of my favorite literary characters of all time!!!! In fact, I think I will go and watch the movie!!!!

Well as far as Chasis, yes they are the same. Now when you are reffering to say the suspension, wheels, Turbo, Ecu's, Interior, Bumpers, then yes there is a big difference.

Actually the RS/GS/LS/GSR/TypeR dont have really too much of a difference except for re-enforcements/better bracing than each other and obvious different engines and trim packages.

Ahh, NO... the Type R was welded differently from the factory.

OP, welcome to the party. What is going on with your Miata? The miata is one of the most reliable cars out there.
