04 Mazdaspeed MX-5 Titanium Gray #3830
Just wanted to say hello to everyone here. I'm a newbie to the forums, but have been checking the place out for a while. I am currently in Highlands Ranch Colorado and I have a Mica Black 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege; had it since May and loved it since then. I don't see too many of the 2003's around here. I've only seen one other 03 in Black. I've seen quite a bit of the 2003.5's--3 silvers and 2 yellow. I'm loving the exclusivity. ;) Anyways, hope to chat with you all soon!

Whats going on Omega, Im from Fort Collins, I also have a black mica. I have never seen another MSP in Colorado since I have had mine. Glad to have ya aboard. Have anything done to the car yet?

Welcome Omega !!! And yes black sucks to keep clean but i think best color (spin)

I hear ya on this one Nemesiis. Black is an awesome color to have. IMHO, nothing beats a polished black car that has that wet glow, especially at night. In all honesty though, I kinda wish Mazda had a titanium version of the 2003. That is my all-time favorite color.

Hi Matt,

See my mod list below for my current mods and my future mods. You are right though about our cars, we don't see too many of them at all--its great!

I graduated from CSU in 2000. I do miss Fort Fun (too many fun memories at Lucky Joes (drinks) . I am just finishing off a little credit card debt ($500) and I am going to get started on those mods. Priorities, Priorities. Anyways, good to see I'm not all alone here in Colorado. Have you done any mods to your MSP yet?

I havent been to Lucky Joe's yet, my fav is Tony's. Cheap drinks there. As far as my mods, I have a CAI, Boost gauge, DGM grille and eyelids. Thats it for now, saving up for an exhaust or fmic. We should have a meet in Colorado sometime soon.

For shizzle, Matt. That would definately be a sighting; two black MSPs parked together in Colorado--quick get a camera! On a different note, Tony's is a pretty cool place. I miss bar hopping, lol. I still have a few friends up there trying to graduate. So are you currently going to CSU?

I did have a question for you. How is your CAI holding up. I remember from a different thread that you did have a few concerns regarding moisture in that well where the filter is located. Also, I am thinking about getting the black Injen CAI. How does your polished one look? Pretty easy to clean and maintain? Or should I hold out for the black version? I hate that MgCl that they toss on the roads; not good for any stainless steel / chrome surfaces. Overall, I'm looking for durability, so if anyone here knows from having the injen, please feel free to respond. Talk to ya soon!

The Injen is holding up very well. I always check it to see if there is much moisture in that well, and there never really appears to be any on the filter element itself. I dont have the polished one, I have the black one. I think it would be a good investment for you, and being that summer is coming around you really shouldnt worry about anything. If you do get it, just make sure you dont drive through any huge puddles.

On the note of doing a meet, we should try and get everyone from Colorado together that would be down with a Protege meet. See what everyone else is doing as far as mods, etc. Just a suggestion.

Matt

Sorry for the late reply, school has been a b**** and I go to UNC.

Thanks Matt. I also just ordered the heat shield / splash guard from Injen. I'll let you know how that goes. I also just watched that "Blair Turkey Project" vid. It basically shows you how loud that intake is. Gees, when the people in the forums said that the turkey sounds pissed, they weren't kidding. I like it :)
