i own an AEM short ram and the aem has some problems with heat soak .. so my friend and i finished my heat shield and air deflector thing.. and we tested it out with OBD II.... before the IAT was 76-88 degree's... the heatshield dropped temps an average of 8-15 degrees ... that is very good for a cuple dollars of sheet metal .... i will make these for some of you guys that have the AEM... just let me know if your interested...

yeah.... the sensor before the MAF.... if u have an obd II program you can see basically everything there is a sensor for....

ive got one question .. there is a sensor of some sort on the transmission .. i could not figure out what it was... do any of you know what that sensor is for???

where exactly is it that you are talking about? you aren't thinking about the one for REVERSE are you? the one that turns on your backup lights?

they have that in the tranny??? why would they waste their time... wouldnt they jsut have a switch on the shifter... this sensor wan in the transmission...

I know...but you see...I replaced my shifter with a short throw...and there is NO switches or electrical connections on the shifter what so ever for the reverse lights....SO, I am figureing it is attached to the tranny somewhere....

the one I THINK it is, is on the lower front of the tranny....I am not sure though...but I seem to remember someone telling me that they had removed that and then reinstalled it and then their back up lights didn't work properly.

Man, this would be great with some pics and some diagrams/measurements for a "how to"! I'd love to give it a shot. I have a Ractive intake.

From the diagram I have seen it is called a "Nuetral switch". I would guess that means it senses when you are in nuetral. Which actually doesn't make sense on a manual transaxle so I would hedge a strong bet that it is for the back up lights as well. Aslo considering that the picture I have doesn't list a back up switch of any kind. It just makes sense.

well the sensor/switch I was talking about isn't even on that diagram...so your guess is as good as mine

the switch/sensor I was talking about is just below and a little more inboard from the tranny fill hole/plug.

Hrmmm. Yeah, I'm thinking these diagrams aren't that great. I'll keep asking around to see if I can figure it out.

I'm not sure all of the functions of a neutral switch, but I know that it is used for automatic starters in stuck shift cars. The neutral switch is like a breaker. If it is activated and the car is in neutral, than the auto start will work.

The tranny has a neutral switch and the other thing is for the reverse lights.

The neutral switch is only for the ECU. On the manual cars, the only thing that affects starting is the clutch switch.

Use of neutral switch:

Engine RPM and load is high, neutral switch is off and clutch switch is off but the speed sensor is showing 0mph = bad speed sensor.

Basically it helps the ECU know when the car is in motion and under power. (For diagnostics and stuff.)
