Headlight Project: Projectors(pics inside)...

You can do this to a p5, the reason it is better to do it on a p5 becuz of the bulb size which is H7. I am using H7 Hid bulbs with a H4 harness, the projector that I am using fits a H7 bulb which is standard on a p5. Which you won't need to touch anything just plug and play. I am trying to find a set of p5 headlights and retro-fit them so I can see the difference. Anyone selling??

Their are some details it would be nice to know, as in:

How do you make the proyector from moving around within the headlamp, does it has a base? How did you make it? Or is it glued?

How do you open the headlamp?

What you had to cut?


How much would you ask if someone gives ya all what ya need? At least the proyectors and covers for them (plez post how-to tho lol) (thumb)

I did a HID retrofit on my old 95 200sx with some valeo ECE hid projectors, I must say it was a lot of work and money, but man do I miss them. Reading this thread has got me wanting to do a retrofit like yours in my MP3.

if i bought an h7 projector off of ebay or something how would i know if it would fit in the headlight housing for a p5

Onefast5, you will need to find out the dimensions of the headlight, ideally you want to mount it in the reflector like Hollywood did, makes adjustment easier. The main concern is the height, you may have to take your headlight apart or estimate by looking at the reflector from the outside. Then you need to find out the dimensions of the projector you plan to use.

My guess without really looking at the size of the P5 headlight would be to look for an E46 (BMW) single xenon projector or the 99-02 Audi A4 (valeo) projector, these are HID which means you just need to buy 2 ballasts and D2S bulbs (total$450).

Keep you eye out for a new thread about my upcoming HID retro into my MP3, thanks to Hollywood2009 I have the bug in me to do another HID retro, this time Hella bi-xenon projectors

* Thanks for all your information. I looked on ebay and found a valeo ece projectors from out of an Audi S4. I need to get some new headlights so i can start this project also. I have an HID kit that fits an H7 but i think im going to get new ballasts for sure. if anybody has anymore info on projectors they would recommend please chime in

The valeo ECE projectors are awesome, small, sharp cutoff and colorfull, I used them on my last car. I would get them again, but I need hibeam as well.

I believe that your MP3 and my Protege 5 have the same light housing no?
Just so I understand this.

I will need the following?

2 x valeo ECE projectors
2 x D2S bulbs

And I'm all set?
I currently have the Mcculochs HID Kit installed.
So basically I'm asking what projectors do I need? and anything else to get this running like Hollywood2009 has in his setup!
