Headers Heatshield

You think our car would hurt if it had no header heatshield? I have the understanding it's just to keep heat on the smaller cat. If not I'm going to be a ricer and just paint the damn thing red. No I'm not an idiot, I will use high temp paint.

Hey, Equinox if you paint the heat shield use the ceramic heat paint. I painted mine awhile back with the standard "high temp" engine paint and it flaked off after about two good highway trips. i've had the ceramic on now for about two months and no chiping or flaking.....only reason i even painted the damn thing was to tone down the engine bay a little, looks ok...little strange but not bad.

Get the buffer out and polish that baby! Seriously though, it looks good if you polish it. I'm sure it keeps some of the exhaust heat off the top of the engine and coil packs. That's why I went to all the trouble of wrapping my header with heat wrap.
