Haynes or Chilton

Hey guys,

Are either Haynes or Chilton producing a manual for the P5? I have searched the internet and this forum, and can't find any information.

From what I can tell, the 98 Protege is about the last thing that got a manual?

Get the factory service manual that the dealers use. It has more info, specs, and procedures than you'll ever want to know about the car. You can buy one for about $50.00 on eaby probably or you can go to protege5.ugly.net. Not sure if the website is the complete manual but its nice to own because you have it handy and can carry it around the shop with you instead of having to go back to you PC and print out pages or look up something. Thats my opinion. Besides I don't believe that Haynes or Chiltons make a manual for the car. Probably too new.

Mazda.

Haynes and Chilton don't have current models service manual, think might be something to do with copyright thing with the manufacturer or something in that nature.

I'd figure they'll need some spec from the factory, who will not sell their car's detail spec until they stop producing the car for varies reasons.

Neither! Get the factory Shop Manual! Haynes or Chilton can't touch it at all in regards to much needed info.

most dealers are cool enough (or at least a couple people in the parts dept. are cool enough) to let you make photocopies of whatever pages you need. a Honda dealer in St. Louis let me copy (actually they copied for me ) 130 pages of the Accord manual I needed for my tranny rebuild and other stuff.

haynes only protege book says it covers like 93 to 00 or something, and has a photo of a 2nd gen on it. I guess they were hoping mazda would keep the 2nd gen setup through 00. Seeing as how I have a 99, and it's...um...different, it kind of sucks. I've heard the service manual was $100 from the dealers...

FSM on CD

I just purchased a Mazda FSM cd on ebay. It was a burned copy but it isn't just scanned pages of the FSM, they are the actual pages in .pdf format.

Do a search around here, there is the whole 2002 Mazda shop manual in PDF format..... I printed it out the other day- 2 reams of paper.
