blue msp 2003.5
ok first things first... my msp at idle stays at 500 rpm.. it feels like its going to shut off.. next i have a bigger problem... ok so i put oil in my car and just about every two weeks the thing is almost bone dry.. its not leaking on the pavement because i have checked numerous times and i dont ever see it smoking out the back so why can it be wasting so much oil? i have money to rebuild but if its something that i can fix rather easily then i would rather do that and save my money for bigger and better things for my msp.. ;)

this is a honest question, i have seen this done before. are you pulling the right dip stick?

what other dip stick is there in a msp ?

Do you have a oil gauge with a line coming from the block ?

my car also idels around 5k dont have an oil prob if you figure out the idel prob let me no thats benn bugging me 4-6 months

yes i am checking the right dipstick... and no i dont have an oil gauge.. u guys think maybe a crack in the block? i was also thinking maybe the rings went bad but it would smoke bad out the back right?

do you have any oil built up around the turbo oil lines? I doubt it would leak that much though

I had a similar issue. I thought the motor was burning oil. turned out to be the turbo. I didn't see any smoke out the back either. I was adding a quart a week.

ok when i boost i dont see any smoke... and if the rings went bad a compression test would be able to tell you right?"

open up the rad cap and make sure there's none in ure coolant.....it should be floating on top in a brown sludge form if it's there.....indication of possible bad head gasket

if you had a bad head gasket just pull your dip stick. if it looks like milk its a blown head gasket but i wouldnt think that would be your problem.

+1 for the possible bad head gasket. Definitely wanna check your rad for oil....if thats fine def check your intercooler pipes and turbo for oil.

you could have a low idle because of the EGR system.....after you figure out why the oil is going.....there is a how to on cleaning the egr valve.....look into that as well.
