Have you installed corksport shifter bushings?

Hi, My name is Curtis.

Been registered for the forum for a while, haven't really posted much. Just basically use it for a reference guide. I have used the search bar, but do not have time to go through 4000 pages of chatter (sorry). I've noticed in my 2003 p5, a lot of play in the shifter. I've checked out the linkage, noticed that the bushings are non-existent at the point the shifter meets the linkage. I saw the bronze-oil bushings on corksport.com, they seem like they are priced well, and a good product. I would like to hear some other feedback on them however.

Also, if I buy these, should I also buy the 3rd link bushing kit as well?

Final question, I'm also looking around for a good short shifter to use with the bushings if I buy them. What is everybody using in that department?

Thanks for any help, have a great day guys!

No the bronzoil bushings do not fit the TWM shifter base. They do fit most other shifters though. TWM includes their own bushings I believe. I recommend the 3rd link kit to go along with the solid bushings, however with the stock MSP shifter I did not notice much of a difference.

thanks for the input! im attempting to order these bushings, but my bank is giving me crap. hopefully the bushings do make some difference, as i have enough play while in gear i can make 1st look like it's in 3rd

I'm sure you will notice a difference, my stock bushings weren't in that bad of shape.

If I were you I'd invest in a short shifter with all the bronzoil and 3rd link as well. I am currently running a twm short shifter and bronzoil bushings and 3rd link kit. like the above member said you will not need two bushings for the twm shifter(it utilizes bearings already on the shifter itself) but if you buy a different shifter such as the kartboy(rare) or the ones on eBay you could possibly use the bronzoil. When I installed my twm we had two bushings left over that were meant for the shifter but twm uses bearings not bushings so I gave them to my buddy for his kartboy shifter which would utilize the stock bushings. I got a good deal on the twm shifter and I know it's expensive so if I were you I'd look into other brands plus I think since the twm uses bearings instead of bushings it rattles a bit requiring a weighed shift knob to quiet it down. That being said I would strongly suggest getting a short shifter it made a huge difference and went from truck driver shifting to what a normal cars comes standard with. One of the best upgrades I've done. Hope this helps
