Running the MSCAI map with an upgraded TMIC ? (ETS) Ive got enough saved for 1 more major mod, and its a cross between Tenzo's, fuel pump, or the AP... Im about 80% leaning towards the AP. Any input would be appreciated =)

go with an upgrade on your IC. The AP is still under refinement and you might be better rewarded with an IC first , then the AP. ( I have the AP and kinda wish would have done it that way)

I hear you can run the fmic with the ets tmic without a problem. If you have the cpe intake Christian from cobb says to NOT run the + maps for some reason. So I think you would have to run a S1 fmic map and not the + map...The AP may be a good choice for you and also we will be able to have the cars tuned soon from cobb vendor shops that are all over the country and not forced to use ots maps.

He already has the IC Im guessing from his sig..

yeah Ive already got the ets tmic, im curious as to why the cp-e intake shouldn't be ran with a + map =( Ill probably end up ordering the AP regardless.. thx for the infos

The cp-e intake does is more restrictive than cobb's sri so cobb suggests running their maps for the stock box to compensate by producing more boost. The fuel pump is a waste of money unless you are going to be adding every bolt on there is including a bigger turbo. I would get the wheels or the AP. You may be able to run the fmic maps with the ETS tmic, but currectly there are no fmic maps for the ms cai. You may run into overboosting problems on the stage 1+ map. I would suggest letting the ecu adjust over at least 100 miles before getting on it. Otherwise you may get some killer spikes. Let us know how it works out. I am considering the same setup.

I have TBE en route to me as well... you think I'll get overboosting running stage 2+ with a TMIC ??

Wouldn't the issue be more with the air/fuel ratio that the map is set to run being thrown off by the different intake that has not been tested? It was my belief that the cp-e intake runs really close to stock af's so it should logically be ok on anything but the + maps or I may be wrong.

the issue is more than just a/f ratio. The cpe intake is restrictive and prevents the turbo from hitting boost targets. Less boost=less power generally. You would want to run stage 2 maps instead of stage 2+. This way you will be better able to achieve the boost targets. As far as the tmic it has not been tested with the maps but it could affect a/f and boost. The ecu can compensate but it's better if it doesn't have to. There a bunch of maps you can try including the fmic maps. Bottom line is it could perform really well or it could cause you to lose power.

So I would be better off just trading off for a cobb intake, or would the more restriction be countered by the cooler air outside of the engine bay? Where exactly is this restriction at anyway, not trying to spark an arguement but trying to figure out where I want to go with my car. I hate buying multiple parts cause something better comes out later.

I wish there was a simple answer to your question. The problem is there are not many people running that combo of mods with the ap. A sponser on the m3forums has the Cpe cai and ets tmic and showed great results on the dyno with earlier maps. I would say try it with the stage 2 map first and then with stage 2 fmic. You can call Cobb and ask them but Christian has told me that people the CPE intake should run the maps for the stock airbox. The maps were designed for Cobb parts so they will work better with those parts. I don't think you're going to blow your engine or do damage but you may not get as much power. I really don't know.

Hrmm.. I dont really want to risk anything. And also if I am going to be paying 700 dollars for the damn thing I want to be able to get the most out of it. Running lower maps would be like a kick in the nuts. Were all in this game for power and that doesn't pass the smell test. So that being said soon I will be picking up the COBB intake.
