Has anyone noticed the retail and trad in value?

This car is pissing me off more and more every day. I was thinking about trading my MP3 or selling it, but I cant. I'm stuck! I checked out KellyBlueBook.com and the MP3 is only worth like $11,000. WTF is that? I owe right under $17,000 for mine. And I got a good deal and my interest rate is low. I wish someone would steal my car or set it on fire. That's the only way I'm going to get my money out of it. I think the release of the MSP ruined the MP3's value personally. This really sucks! In only one year, the value of this car has dropped from $18,550, to $10500. That's $8,000! That is almost as bad as the value of the PT Cruiser's or the neon's. This really pisses me off!

kelly blue book sucks....don't even bother. Besides, our car is very rare, I doubt their database even actually lists our cars correctly.

Well thats why you don't trade in cars. First of all, I dont think KBB knows what the MP3 is. Here is my take on how KBB is off.

1) Premium wheels to them probably means some dealer 16" alloys that are $100 a piece.

2) Premium sound probably means the usual 6 speaker Infiniti setup that doesn't come close in price or performance.

3) They have no options for body kit, suspension upgrades, new exhaust, $300 steering wheel... Yes, they are "aftermarket", but alas they are manufacturer installed and are part of the value.

I dont think I will ever attempt to trade in a car. First of all, you lose about $1500-$2000 off the bat. Second, Mazda had no idea what the MP3 was when they sold it to me, they probably still dont and won't give you a fair trade.

I'm willing to bet if you drove around with a For Sale sign, and placed a spot in your local paper, you could get $15k easily. Its only a year old!

Which leads me to my next thought. I will never sell this car. Yes, I will buy a new car, but I will never let go of my MP3 until it dies or I blow it up from modifying it beyond repair :). I love it too much. I'm looking at it from my window at work right now and still get that "awesome!" feeling...

im sure if you fix it again, that exact thing might happen, or maybe you can catch her in the act and have some revengeful fun.

Hey guys I hate to break the news to you but since our cars are limited additions with most of the mods being performed post production, we basically have dressed up ES 2.0's. :wtf: If you doubt me do a model search by VIN number, the build code of the MP3 (BJ22) is the exact same as that of the ES 2.0 (BJ22) I work at a dealership here in town and frequently check out the NADA books to check value. Be happy that KBB says $11,000, most dealerships use NADA values and the BJ22 build opens up at $8500 left book. This is the figure that most dealers are going to top out your vehicles worth at. Sure they may show you more on paper, but I guarantee that they are buying your car at or below (most cases way below) left side book. There is no listing for an MP3 becasue of the fact the the cars originated as the ES 2.0 platform. Yeah it kinda sucks, the only way to get decent trade for the vehicle is to trade it in at a mazda dealer that has sold MP3's in the past. They are only slightly more lenient.:bs:
